Eddie read my mind it seems (from my post earlier).

This fight will sell well..... UK fans are very different to US fans. Klitchsko a legendary name struggled to attract anything in the states - indeed many of his fights were not shown. Yet he filled 90K in Wembley.... okay you could say Joshua was a huge part of that, but I honestly think Klitchsko was the bigger part - Joshua wasn't thinking of stadiums before that fight.

Tyson sold out in minutes, yet two three years later was really struggling for sales in the states. Didn't Tyson vs Savarese sell out Hampden?

We appreciate great boxers more, irrespective of styles..... American fight fans seem to have a shorter memory and when the fighter is either in dull fights or no longer on top is forgotten about.

It will have no problems selling a big big arena and probably a small stadium - Loma's a name.

TBF, Wlad’s last fight in the US peaked 1.7m viewers on HBO. And the attendance at MSG was pro-Klitschko crowd of 17,056.
Since when did Tyson not sell in the US?

Btw. I completely agree. UK fans, in general, far more passionate and do appreciate boxing more. Shame there will always be more money in the States. Would love to have more bigger fights here.

Would like to see Canelo, Golovkin, Wilder, Loma, Usyk, Crawford, Spence, Manny Pac, and many more fight in the UK (again for some).. chances are doubt we will.

He was always a good draw here. Even after his losses he maintained his drawing power.

is that a good number for the platform hes on?

if you stick something on a us network like fox it can go to several million even for not huge draws, on formerly hbo and showtime it would be much lower because not as many ppl got it, something like 1m+ was very solid.

spence once did 6m on fox then like 300k in his next fight, on showtime

Because most of his fights were in Germany. He didn’t need US PPV money, he was being paid handsomely with his German TV deal.

Yeh. And the Jennings fight was his first in the US in like 7 years. The Ibragimov fight was shïte!! The Jennings fight wasn’t bad at all.

Yeh. Defiantly. If you compare what other boxers were doing on HBO at the time, 1.7m viewers was a good number.

Yehh I think Spence averaged 4m on NBC against Bundu, but many were saying that was contributed with something it followed, a huge game or something.

But Spence wasn’t getting a lot of views on Showtime, not compared to Mikey Garcia for example. Garcia was the NAME on their fight mostly.

Got a feeling Spence vs. Porter on FOX will Definately do near 3m.

A few of Tyson's later fights were not on PPV in the states - Orlin Norris as an example - this was coming from a guy who was the undisputed #1 PPV draw a few years before.

I always thought Tyson vs Williams and Tyson vs McBride struggled to sell. There seemed to be talk in fight week that tickets were down, but the arena's looked quite buzzing come fight time.

Ruthless-RKO wrote: 08 May 2019, 11:56 At the very least, Campbell at least gets a home game for his troubles. In fact, it’s something upon which Lomachenko and his side insisted in pursuing the title.

“In talking with Loma and Egis Klimas (Lomachenko’s manager), they always wanted to fight in the UK,” Bob Arum, Lomachenko’s Hall of Fame promoter told BS.com. “They had a great experience there when Loma’s good friend, (undefeated cruiserweight champion) Oleksandr Usyk fought Tony Bellew last year. Of course, it’s also where he won his second Gold medal (in the 2012 London Olympics, following his Gold medal win in the 2008 Beijing Olympic, where he was named the tournament’s top boxer).

“That’s the plan we have for the fight. Eddie is looking for an arena and we will determine what the TV will be in the UK.”

Hearn has been the longtime primary content provider for Sky Sports and its Box Office arm in the UK. Arum, through his deal with ESPN and partnership with Hearn’s UK promotional rival allegedly, has a working relationship with BT Sport.

However that plays out, hometown advantage is the only concession Lomachenko’s side is willing to grant.

“The one absolute must is that the fight will be shown in the U.S. on either ESPN or ESPN+,” insists Arum, who has an exclusive pact with ESPN through 2025. “We’re fighting over there, maybe even in Campbell’s hometown (Hull, England) for all I know. But it will air on our platform, in the afternoon to make up for the time difference over there.”
This is great to hear from Loma - it sounds like he wants a “soccer stadium fight” in the UK for his bucket list. Putting experiences, glory and legacy above a (slightly) greater chance of winning.
Puts the last guy to be clearly P4P no.1 o shane.

If the fight is over here, Loma will love it. Campbell isn’t a trash talker and the build up won’t be hostile. There will be a few boos as he walks to the ring, but he will be cheered out of it. GGG and Usyk both seemed to relish their experiences here.

That's it - we roll out the red carpet and tug our forelocks for the visiting boxing royalty. They seem to appreciate the atmosphere and how grateful we are to be touched by their presence.

Talks are ongoing between Top Rank and Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn in an effort to make the mandatory fight between unified lightweight world champion Vasiliy Lomachenko and mandatory challenger Luke Campbell. Both sides told ESPN on Tuesday that they are on track to work out a deal with the target being for the fight to take place on Aug. 31 in London – Campbell is from England -- in a bout that would be carried on an ESPN platform.

FIGHT ON Vasyl Lomachenko vs Luke Campbell now a DONE DEAL for end of August, reveals promoter Bob Arum

A location has not yet been confirmed, however it’s heavily speculated the fight will take place in London or Hull

During a debate about making fights with other promoters, Arum was challenged about his willingness to match his boxers against those Eddie Hearn represents.

In response, he let slip to J Calderon Boxing Talk: “Lomachenko is gonna fight Campbell at the end of August.

“And we were able to make that deal with Eddie Hearn who books fights for DAZN.”

London’s O2 Arena was seemingly the frontrunner for a potential August 31 date, with Hull’s KCOM Stadium also in the running. None of this is known for certain as yet.

“We’ve worked before with Eddie (Hearn, Campbell’s promoter) and Matchroom with Loma and (Anthony) Crolla,” Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum told BS.com and other reporters on hand for the May 25 ESPN telecast in Kissimmee, Fla. “We were able to get a deal together for Loma and Luke Campbell to fight later this summer.”

“Loma has always wanted to fight in the UK,” Arum noted. “They had a great experience there when Loma’s good friend, (undefeated cruiserweight champion) Oleksandr Usyk fought Tony Bellew last year. Of course, it’s also where he won his second Gold medal.”

“We’re grateful the WBC granted the request to allow Loma to face Luke Campbell for (its) title and the chance to own three of the four lightweight titles,” acknowledged Arum, whose Top Rank company—through ESPN—has established a series of lightweight bouts that should lead to a single divisional king. “It’s important for Loma to become the undisputed champion, which becomes my responsibility to put him… in position to make that happen.

“That means putting together deals with promoters like Matchroom and all others.”
