What's more important to you? That the heavyweight champion can fight or that he looks good in photos?
ESPN commentator Andre Ward thinks Joshua spends too much time working on building his muscles and not enough time practicing his craft of boxing:

He’s the heavyweight Khan.
I think his chin ain’t too bad. He’s taken shots before. This is HW’s. You’re gonna get clipped and get dropped at some point.
Are there any HW’s that have never been dropped in the modern era.
I think what done AJ was the head shots. Not so much chin.
Mariusz Wach!

Nope! And nobody has. And that's after having 38 bouts where he has fought and took the best punches from some of the most powerful punchers in the heavyweight division, including Wladimir Klitschko, Alexander Povetkin, Jarrell Miller, Bakole and so forth so on.
Mariusz Wach's chin is quite possibly the greatest in history in an absolute sense. Only Oliver Mccall even comes close and I don't think even he is quite as durable as Wach. The dimensions of Wach's chin alone is kind of an anomaly. It doesn't seem like it's possible to drop / KO him.
Honestly, I don't even think the likes of Wilder and Joshua (even with their best shots) can drop, much less KO Wach. Wach's chin is really that sturdy!
A person is more likely to break their hands, than they are to drop / KO Mariusz Wach, if they are carelessly launching their most powerful punches on Wach's chin repeatedly. A picture speaks a thousand words:

chin ain't bad in that he gets up...
but in boxing it's how you react once hurt...
Examples...
Price and bute react badly once hurt...
Joshua actually not THAT bad but clearly his legs and stamina go out the window...
Anthony Joshua tried to keep his head together and in no way panicked. Trouble was Ruiz was relentlessly hitting him with different shots and not allowing him to fully get back into the fight. Not easy to passively defend against, ask Joseph Parker.
Maybe if Joshua could have kept him away for a few rounds whilst he cleared his head, maybe if Ruiz wanted a breather... didn't happen.
Muhammad Ali could always recover well against most fighters, great footwork, good reflexes, ability to tie them up if necessary etc.
But then one day he encountered a much shorter opponent who was even more relentless than Andy Ruiz..
In any case Joshua's chin is fine but he's no fool. He wasn't feeling good and had no answer to Ruiz's attack. So instead of getting splattered he called it a day.
Now he has a chance to regroup, replan and reconquer what was his. Entirely rational and completely in character.
The difficult bit will be to find the fight plan to beat Andy Ruiz next time. This time the fates all worked for Ruiz (long camp, previous opponent similar to AJ). Apart from possible mobility and stamina issues late on there seem to be no other weaknesses.
Andy Ruiz has come from literally nowhere to now being considered top 3! The many people who were calling him a joke seriously need to reassess their evaluation processes.
Talk about prejudice.

Took another look at it.
I don't know, Joshua did what I expected, but to think that Ruiz could throw a last hurrah and change the whole fight wasn't in the tea leafs.
Joshua have a zen moment and switch off ?
Got the money, healthy happy why take more punishment with a guaranteed rematch and multiple options out there begs a motivational question doesn't it ?
I've not figured it out yet.
