Kuzmin needs to be way better than he was vs Joey. He needs that to have been his Liakhovich performance rather than a good representation of what he's bringing. He's always seemed rather basic to me though, Hunter should win but Kuz may be able to hurt him some.

I saw that the other day. worst part is he was inserted into the BoxRec rankings rather high initially, but now he's no longer ranked.

This match-up is good. Both fighters are mildly proven, at least to the degree that the loser's scalp will be worth more than anyone beaten by Breazeale, Joyce, Hrgovic, Yoka, Martin, or Hughie. It may also be a better win than Ajagba's win over Demirezen and Dubois's win over Gorman.
I think it's right in line with those latter two wins, whoever gets it.

It would clearly be a better win than Demirezin, I don't really see how it could be otherwise at this point.
Sooner or later some of these HW prospects are gonna lose, this could be one.
Probably all of 'em are gonna lose. I don't see any Heavyweight at the moment that looks like any kind of unbeatable force. Even the guys at the top have glaring flaws.
Usyk might clean the place out. When is he going to fight now?

Usyk with his size disadvantage obviously wouldn't be unbeatable as a Heavyweight either, but he'll do well when he mixes with them I'm sure.

He's 6'3". How much do you think he'll be weighing? I hope he fights soon though. Time flies and it's already 9 months since his fight with Bellew.
Between 210 and 220 I'd think. Any heavier than that is pushing it a bit I think. His movement, and boxing ability is his greatest asset in these fights so he'll be better off to be lighter on his feet.

220 is likely what Usyk weighs in the ring when fighting at CW. He would need to add some muscle for competing with top HWs.

You're aware that Demirezen beat Yoka and Joyce in the amateurs, though, right?

Yep, and Kuzmin for example was the European amateur champion (Demi won nothing that big) and splatted Joyce in 30 seconds around the same time and has better pro wins than Demi. Hunter too was an Olympian and has done way more as a pro, it's not even close, clearly either is a better win than Demirezin at this point

Wait until one of them is on the losing side, and everyone here will say the win doesn't mean much bc the loser was crap and we just didn't realize it yet.

The White Wolf probably has had a confidence boost recently, having given Ruiz real problems a few years ago.
I thought he beat Ruiz. Maybe I was prejudiced in his favor. He's a puzzle to me. He seemed so lackadaisical vs. Ruiz. He didn't even seem to care when the crooked judges gave Ruiz a lopsided decision.
The worst, tho, was vs. Briggs when he seemed to deliberately stick out his jaw to get KO's in the last freakin second of that won fight - after his corner was literally shouting at him before the final round to just stay away because he had the fight won. I'm convinced he deliberately lost that fight.

He's a big guy, 6'3". My fighting weight was 210 at 6'. If he really was fighting at cruiser at 220 then maybe he can go to 230 or 235. Needs to keep his speed though. That's his forte.

Lots of fighters who sparred with him say that Kuzmin does very good on sparring but he doesn't really show that in fights.

As you know those are two very different animals. (sparring vs fighting).

Looking forward to this fight this weekend. I think Hunter is underrated by many and I think he’ll get the job done vs Kuzmin.
