From where may I ask? I mean the guy was already fighting at official cruiserweight of 200 and actual ring weight more, so he was already a heavyweight, as big or bigger than many of the past greats.

it was said by ex-boxer Maciej Miszkiń, he says that his source was ''someone who is on the camp with Usyk'' or ''someone from Usyk team'' i do not remember perfectly now.
rumours are just rumours though.
Usyk when starts his pre-fight camp usually weights ~220lbs, i guess this is how much he's gonna weight in his next fight.
I don't know if these rumours are true or not, but let's not forget that Usyk started at middleweight, he fought at middleweight until he was 19 years old.. his rumoured opponets are only short, small HW's..., we can only guess what's true or not until he will step in the ring in his HW debut.

Sparring stories are worthless. Whether it's "So and so kicked his ass in sparring" or "He's a beast in the gym, he destroys everybody"...it means f*ck all.
Andy Lee was supposedly a monster in the gym, but never more than just pretty good as an actual Professional Fighter.
Then you have stories of guys who supposedly get their asses kicked by lesser guys in the gym, but somehow always win in the fights.
Sparring stories for all we know are just f*cking made up.
Even if they're not though, they're irrelevant. Sparring is practice.

he just meant that there is a significant and clear difference of how he endures physically the regular HW sparring sessions compared to CW ones, but yeah, i agree with you, gym/sparring rumours are worthless, only the fight answers how good someone is or is not

Spong is no match for Usyk - this fight is just a waste of time, it will tell us nothing

this guy got knocked out in round 1 by world's #55 middleweight whose record was 8 (3 KO) - 0 and now his KO ratio is 29%
This is going to be a total execution. Mismatch of the year.

all of Usyk's rumoured opponents are shorter than hin (except of Jennings who is of the same height)
except of Takam, none of them ever weighted more than 105kg/232lbs

He's fighting TBA. Gotta find somebody now, some guy off the street or in some gym or something or else the DAZN and Skysport lawyers will be angry.
Ticket Alert: Usyk vs. TBA
FacebookTwitterReddit
It was officially announced today that unbeaten and formerly undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk makes his heavyweight debut on October 12 at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, live on DAZN in the US and on Sky Sports in the UK – and tickets are on presale now. Still no opponent named.
Usyk (16-0, 12 KOs) moves up after a clinical KO win over Tony Bellew in Manchester in November, that victory continuing his epic run of wins in his opponent’s backyard that saw him seal the inaugural World Boxing Super Series through wins over Marco Huck, Mairis Breidis and Murat Gassiev. Usyk was scheduled to face heavyweight Carlos Takam earlier in the year, but that fight was cancelled after Usyk suffered a torn bicep.

So it appears spong just battered a guy half his size in under 2 rounds which qualifies him for Usyk ...
Post fight commentary below :
" By round two, the massive size difference was evident. Spong imposed his will on the overmatched Minda, connecting with a right hand to the midsection for the bout’s first knockdown. Minda beat the count but was unable to fend off the multi-talented Spong—a former kickboxing champion and mixed martial artist. An ensuing flurry resulted in the second knockdown and ultimately the end of the fight as the referee waved off the contest without issuing a count."
