Unexpected, did Wilder say that ?
I actually like Wilder, despite his BS and sometimes tourette’s, he’s clearly a good guy to me, looking after his disabled daughter like that.
And from thinking he was a china chinned pretender in his underwhelming early career ( and defences ) he’s really shown that he’s got the right stuff. And despite those giraffe-like legs floundering at times, he’s a very hard man to put down, with a right hand like the crack of doom.
Those photos of Ortiz, wow, what a beast ! Not a man that any heavyweight, outside of the real top elite level, would fancy taking on....a real danger man all the way.
The way boxing goes, an older fighter coming close but then getting badly knocked out, usually always means a repeat, with the younger fighter winning in less time....But who knows really, this guy can really crack and he came close last time ..this could be short and violent encounter.

I also like Wilder tbh, also despite the BS and as you say some of the tourette's but I do not think looking after a disabled child is what would define that, what else is a parent to do? Send them off for adoption?
I have a disabled child, who lives with me full-time as his mother, well his mother is just not an appropriate parent. I sacrifice many things - going out, thoughts of my own future (moving, holidays, even just things my mates do and want me to join them in like weekends to Vegas to watch a fight, taking a higher paid job which would not fit in with our life etc and accept that maybe the rest of my life will involve me not doing things that I want to do which is just something you do accept) juggle work, studying for a new career in my 40s, running a home, all the extra jobs for my lad, extra meetings with medical people and at his school etc and none of that makes me any more of a good guy than my mates who have children without disabilties or even people with no children at all. I am as liable to be an utter prick as anyone else.

All true, and I can’t help but admire and respect anyone who does that - even though that’s exactly what we should all do as parents, there’s millions who don’t ...sadly.

- Wilder's a thug whose dozen entourage sycophants roughed up Dominic Breazeale with his wife and toddler in a Birmingham hotel, all duly recorded by respected journalist Steve Kim in the moment.
His whole career a series of TBA fights designed to prop him up while he gets beat up. Yeah, big right hand bails him out like Saad Muhammad, but careers grind to an end and Ortiz put him on the brink last go round that required some ref intervention to save his listing carcass.
Ortiz ain't Patterson or Louis or Lewis upending previous KO losses, but the Wilder overseers may be making a mistake rolling the dice with Ortiz again.

I see it more 50-50 but for the suits. We'll see soon enough.

The 34-year-old Wilder weighed 219½ pounds when he stepped on the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s scale, almost five pounds more than the 214¾ pounds he officially weighed for their first fight.
The 40-year-old Ortiz officially came in at 236½ pounds Friday, nearly five pounds less than the 241¼ pounds he was when he weighed in for their initial encounter.

I said about 5 years ago Ortiz was the man to beat in the division. I’d love him to win. He’s about 120 years old though and I don’t think he can improve on the last performance. Have to go Wilder KO again, he’s no better as an all round fighter from last time, but he’s dangerous for 36 minutes. Ortiz can’t keep him off that long.

Probably says more about Ortiz than Wilder.
Ortiz has turned fat into muscle. He is way more defined than their last fight, and his arms and shoulder look to be bigger.

The fight will start at 5am UK time which is 9pm in Las Vegas where the fight is being held. Ring walks are unlikely to take place earlier, even if the undercard fights finish ahead of schedule.
