I think Saunders can take it. Canelo can be outboxed and struggles with fighters that move. Amir Khan arguably won every round against Canelo until he was knocked out. Jacobs also done very well.

I am taking Saunders sneaking a decision.. He has decent enough ring IQ to avoid trading shots and knows what he needs to do to get the win.

Canelo wins for sure, he's the more skillful boxer too

Saunders won't win it wide anyway. And judges will be on Canelo's side as usual. So I don't see Saunders taking the decision.

People will be surprised about how superior Canelo's boxing skills will be vs BJS. The the same people will also say that BJS had no enough time to train properly or that he was declining, etc. Excuses, excuses. I hope Saunders won't walk to the ring with a 40 lbs halloween costume on him.

Well tbh I don't like neither of them that much but I'm slightly rooting for Canelo b/c he's the far more exciting fighter to watch and the much harder worker.

I’m now doubting it takes place at all due to the corona virus. I appreciate Canelo is immune due to the cocktail of chemicals in his system but we are talking thousands of people in a stadium whom don’t have access to high end pharmacology.

Daniel Jacobs has very good run before Canelo fight. Close loss to Golovkin and then 3 wins over undefeated prospects (2 of them was very top at the time). Destruction of Peter Quillin is also need to be mentioned. Danny earned every penny

Jacobs got in on Canelos first big dazn fight and also his own contract when hearn was burning money. Don't mind eo, he's stupid and biased.

Covid19 will probably postpone a lot of sports events. Maybe a mix of C12H18Cl2N2O & C10H15NO2 could stop this bloody virus?

Unfortunately it appears you may be right about this. The media is rife with articles speculating that Canelo's bout against Saunders will be cancelled, not postponed, since it's assumed that the Mexican will be facing GGG in September.

And by 2021, Canelo might have bigger fish to fry than Saunders.

I want BJS to win, but I can't see how that happens. For me Canelo is just too good.

BJS can cause some troubles because of his style and his boxing skill and toughness will probably prevent him from being stopped. But Canelo handle this with decision IMO

You got to feel sorry for Saunders if this happens, because this would be the second time he’s had a deal to face Canelo and the fight fell through.

And to make matters worse, on two separate occasions Saunders had also signed deals to face GGG, but the Kazakh decided against taking those fights, despite the terms being fully agreed upon.

He had a fight lined-up against James DeGale, but that fell through.

The Avtandil Khurtsidze fight was cancelled, due to the Georgian having to withdraw.

His fight against Demetrius Andrade was cancelled after being suspended for consuming substances, despite not being stripped of his license and not breaching any rules stipulated by WADA, UKAD and the BBBofC.

There are other guys that have previously and openly admitted to either rejecting or being disinterested in receiving opportunities to face Billy Joe, such as Callum Smith and Chris Eubank Jr.

DAZN issued a press release announcing it’s launch in the UK and other territories, which was being kicked-off with the May 2nd Canelo-Saunders bout, launching with an initial monthly subscription cost of £4.95, which is less than 20% of the price Sky Box Office charged for the Joshua-Ruiz rematch.

DAZN would have enjoyed a massive uptake on their initial launch price had they had a decent fight to televise, but now they don't.

So with the recent cancellation of lots of sporting events, due to the coronavirus disease, DAZN might decide to postpone their UK launch until they have something moderately worthwhile to showcase.

Historically good southpaws have gave Canelo problems, but for anyone to think BJS can win a decision over Canelo is dreaming. He's already ahead on two of the three cards. BJS's only hope to win is KO. Talk about a long shot.

Canelo Alvarez-Billy Joe Saunders Fight Postponed Until At Least June

Like numerous boxing events in the United States, the Canelo Alvarez-Billy Joe Saunders fight has been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Alvarez and Saunders finalized a deal recently for a fight May 2 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The promotion of their 12-round fight for Saunders’ WBO super middleweight title was supposed to start Tuesday with a press conference in Los Angeles.

Boxing Scene was informed Monday, though, that the Alvarez-Saunders card has been pushed back until at least sometime in June. It’s possible that it’ll take place even later than June, depending on how long the coronavirus pandemic impacts large gatherings in the United States.

MGM Resorts International, which will host the Alvarez-Saunders show whenever it takes place, announced Sunday night that its casinos and hotels in Las Vegas and elsewhere will close Tuesday for an undetermined amount of time. At least temporarily, MGM Resorts International won’t take reservations for any of its hotels for stays that begin before May 1, the day before Alvarez and Saunders were supposed to fight at T-Mobile Arena.

MGM Resorts International also is the co-owner of T-Mobile Arena, the home venue for the NHL’s Las Vegas Golden Knights.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission determined during an emergency meeting Saturday that all boxing and mixed martial arts events scheduled through March 25 were postponed. The NSAC likely will postpone shows scheduled for beyond that date at its next regularly scheduled meeting, set for March 25 in Las Vegas.

Alvarez-Saunders is the highest-profile boxing event in the United States affected thus far by coronavirus concerns.

Golden Boy Promotions, which represents Alvarez, Matchroom Boxing, Saunders’ promoter, and DAZN will monitor the coronavirus pandemic closely before determining an appropriate date for that fight. They want to avoid postponing it once it is officially announced.

Golden Boy, Matchroom and DAZN intended to announce Alvarez-Saunders for May 2 last week.

Mexico’s Alvarez and England’s Saunders were already training in San Diego and Las Vegas, respectively, before their promoters decided to push back their fight from May 2.

Whenever they square off, Alvarez (53-1-2, 36 KOs) will try to add another super middleweight title to his long list of accomplishments.

Alvarez, 29, took the WBA world 168-pound championship from Rocky Fielding in December 2018. England’s Fielding (28-2, 16 KOs) was the WBA’s secondary super middleweight title-holder, though, when Alvarez beat him by third-round technical knockout at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Another Brit, Callum Smith, remains the WBA’s legitimate super middleweight champion. The 29-year-old Smith (27-0, 19 KOs), who won that title by stopping George Groves in the seventh round of their September 2018 bout, had stopped Fielding in the first round three years prior to Alvarez beating him.

Smith was among the opponents Alvarez considered before he chose Saunders (29-0, 14 KOs), a southpaw who has won world titles in the middleweight and super middleweight divisions.

In his last bout, Saunders knocked out Argentina’s Marcelo Coceres in the 11th round November 9 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Saunders trailed on one scorecard before he knocked down Coceres (28-1-1, 15 KOs) three times and stopped him in the 11th round.
