Costello is decent but not in Darkes league.

Lee is a quality operator
Ian Darke loves his football too much to come back to boxing.

Yeah, he would have covered a BT show by now. So little chance of a comeback. I quiet like Darren Fletcher, he has a big event voice.

I used to download it every week at one stage, but haven't bothered to listen to Bunce's podcast in God knows how long.

I just checked it out because it suddenly occurred to me that there must be a big Josh Taylor v Teofimo Lopez preview this week......just look at the description for this weeks Pod :

Wembley's world title triple-header

5 Live Boxing with Steve Bunce

"Steve takes the pod to the press conference ahead of the three world title fights at Wembley this weekend. He chats to the promoter Eddie Hearn about the night and also gets an update on both Anthony Joshua and Conor Benn’s potential next fights. As well as speaking to Sunny Edwards, who headlines the event, he catches up with the other fighters on the card including Ellie Scotney, Nina Hughes, Katie Healy, Cheavon Clarke and Johnny Fisher. And we also hear from Josh Taylor and Teofimo Lopez who fight in New York in the early hours of Sunday."

I tiny cursory mention of the Taylor world title fight right at the end :shame:

BBC and Bunce can shove their podcast where the sun don't shine :-?

Utter disgrace :stop:

It’s absolutely appalling, large portions of the show are routinely devoted to interviewing women “world champions” who you’ve never heard of.

I get that Bunce isn’t for everyone but I used to enjoy his podcast until the BBC got a proper editorial hold of it and led us down the woke path, now i usually don’t bother with it.

The boxing news podcast and big fight weekend podcast are different class - I really enjoy them both

Nice to see others sharing the same view about the content.

I noticed it creeping in a few years back and as it increased....my listening decreased. A cousin who lived in the USA used to listen to it every week but has long since ditched it and work mates that i kept mentioning it to download have all stopped as well. The woketards stike again !

This week's has a funny moment. Bunce is talking about how Fisher is a huge ticket seller. He brings the studio guest into it for some insight but its Galal Yafai, who couldn't sell a ticket to his own mother. Not sure what he was supposed to add there.

Yafai also just palmed off Bunces question about how it was very wrong for Teo to say he wanted to kill Taylor. The show really needs better guests on it.

Only a few words from me.

Bunce sounds like a man with his balls in a vice. Hate his commentary.

Stopped listening a year or so ago when I got sick of him being an about women's boxing. The interview with Ebanie Bridges was a true nadir in boxing journalism. I still like his column though.

There is absolutely no doubts that Bunce is totally
Committed to boxing and works his nuts off but by f*ck he annoys me almost as much as that c*nt who is a pundit on ITV racing .. Matt Chapman

I like Bunce, he knows his stuff but of course he’s going to toe the line but they all do. If he said what he really thought most of the time he’d be out a job.

Last chance for Buncey's Podcast.....he's got Barry Jones in to preview the Spence v Crawford super fight.

I'm already sceptical....the title is actually referencing Conor Benn  It should just be about two of the best fighters in the world squaring off for the undisputed Welterweight title.

He tries so hard to declare Conor Benn's innocence it's nauseating.
Wish he'd be a bit more objective.

I used to be a regular listener to 5Live Boxing, particularly when I was living overseas and didn’t have regular access to British fights.

Since returning to the UK in 2017 and consequently having more access to mainstream boxing I’ve listened far less to Bunce and more to pods such as Boxing Life stories and, more latterly Boxing News.

I’ve recently had a few long car journeys so I downloaded a couple of episodes of 5Live Boxing and I now find it entirely unlistenable.

Puerile, sycophantic, apologist, populist, sensationalist, unremittingly and unnecessarily overexcited, squealing claptrap.

I’m sure it’s been discussed here before but when did Bunce ‘jump the shark’?

His interviews with Eddie Hearn are particularly egregious - even Eddie must wonder what the funk is going on. Buncey agrees with everything Eddie says, finishes his sentences for him like they’re an old married couple and, bizarrely, giggles like a schoolgirl at various points throughout the interview when nothing funny has been said.

It’s a hard listen tbh, you do start to wonder if Buncey is ok emotionally.

i gave up listening at the start of the year. same as others, can't listen to him now for so many reasons. i used to look forward to the new episodes though!

Off topic, but the talksport boxing page is full of Youtube boxers too. another source of boxing news that has gone to sh&t. the radio can be alright at times, if i'm stuck in a car and can't find anything else.

I don’t know who is worse Bunce or that other nauseating half-wit Davies. My vision of hell is being stuck in a room with those 2.

Understood but Bunce has at least boxed as an am, and doesn't have stupid hair.

Davies is far worse.

While Bunce has let himself down sometimes, he has done a lot of great work

Whilst I tentatively agree with you, he is in my humble opinion, one of the most duplicitous characters I have ever had the misfortune of meeting.
