I know it says 32+ fights..
But does that seem okay?
US cards included?
I think it's wrong. I think it's 32 Matchroom Fight Cards (which is the original deal Hearn has with DAZN) including 16 in the UK. Overall it should be a few more when you throw in the Golden Boy cards although strong rumours that they are off at the end of this year when it expires.
It's a very poorly written press release which is off given the emphasis DAZN is meant to be putting on these things.

16 UK cards is abysmal.
1.3 cards a month for UK.
He hasn#'t even announced anything for US and god knows how many US boxers he even has.

16 fight nights in the UK is pitiful, rest of the stuff is meaningless filler

Unless I've missed any announcements for British shows on SKY coming up there isn't any, DAZN/Hearn will be one a month at best so looks like Uncle Frank and BT will be the place for regular Saturday night shows plus his prospects on a Friday night.
This doesn't look good for anyone

It really is when you count in those 3 fight camp cards, it's basically 1 card a month for 8 quid and no other content at all??
Oh sorry Women's Champions League which is streamed free on their Youtube. We're basically paying extra for content we already had on Sky, no improvement.
Judging by the reaction I'd say this is a mistake and they're in trouble.

They're planning Dillian Whyte Vs Chris Areola in October lol. Price probably increasing to keep Whyte from leaving for Sky like others
Also it looks like AJ will be on Sky as expected, and Golden Boy are leaving DAZN while Matchroom USA is pretty much done with nothing planned.
Hearn bit off more than he can chew with Matchroom USA and leaving Sky for DAZN

Give it a couple of weeks. They need more announcements certainly but it’s a bit early to write them off.
The show this weekend is good and the Liverpool show next month is class. Give me a show like that every 3 weeks rather than some of the rubbish that’s been on BT this year. They just need more shows on DAZN and particular good ones from the US.
Golden Boy are flirting with Triller so will be interesting to see what happens there. If the stories re: what Haye and Fournier are getting paid are true then it’s a risky PPv for Triller with Oscar. I think it’ll do a lot less than the Tyson/Mayweather/Paul shows.
Also got a show in Spain next week, the Hrgovic card in Austria and there’s a show in Italy early October on DAZN. None of them are much good (although I always enjoy Lejerraga fights) but they’re on DAZN.
They need to announce their super fly show ASAP as that’ll be at least one great fight and also get another couple of US shows confirmed quickly. Also would help if Whyte’s show was announced as it wouldn’t take much for £7.99 to be a cost people are fine with.

I am a fan of what Matchroom has done in the past and what they are / were planning. Personally I am gutted about the DAZN switch and yep I am ridiculously old fashioned but I do not use any streaming TV service and I am not going to start now. However, can see why he has done it.
However, Eddie as good a talker as he is, really needs to cut down on the interviews or at least give a more rigid brief to the likes of Kugan. A bit of speculation is good and adds to the drama - but I think when think when we seem to have a blow by blow account of how close negotiations are - when it is announced I am like - blah..... so. Recent examples.
Fury vs Joshua - we were getting almost daily updates I felt like I knew the backers in Dubai's bowel movements and off course nothing happened.
Joshua vs Usyk - Did we really need to know what venues MIGHT get the call - okay say it once e.g. "Cardiff, Wembley, Spurs are in the running" - but it was weeks and weeks of - I've spoken to this venue, this venue and this venue. That should have been a really easy fight to make - Hearn has a good relationship with Team Usyk and he was mandatory.
Parker vs Chisora 2 - I don't even know if that is signed - but its certainly dragging on.
Canelo vs Plant - we all knew that it was Plant that Canelo wanted next after BJS - did we really need to know the weeks and weeks of negotations - sign the fight THEN talk about it.
Khan vs Brook - not the recent development, but when Khan signed with Matchroom and Brook was on Matchroom's books - lets be honest we all thought "well now its going to be done" - again near daily updates after Khan's second Sky fight - "I'm talking, I'm talking etc" - nowt. Now the signs are now both are away from Matchroom it is the closest it has ever been to getting signed - but we endured weeks / months of updates on the negotiation process that all came to nothing in the end.
I love the interviews Eddie does, but better to talk about fights that are signed. Yes mention perhaps plans - "e.g. we want Plant next for Canelo" - but then leave it till it is signed. It actually paints him as being pretty poor at negotiating and getting them over the line - of the fights mentioned above - 2 didn't complete, 1 completed but only when Hearn took a back seat, the other two should be relatively easy to complete but they took an age to get done (I don't even know if Chisora vs Parker 2 is done). But I guess with only 16 fights a year in the UK he has to create a bit of filler for Kugan and the like.

Boxing is a niche sport.
It's all about fights and demand, if it's fight no one cares for, then no one will watch it.
It needs to be on a sub or a cable tv channel, not on an app. especially when the app hasn't got anything else other than sport.
I've said it many times, 95% of customers that have/had a sky sports subscription haven't got it for the boxing. It's for other sports, mainly Football. So Boxing is/was considered an add-on really.
It's really the same for BT as well.
Who knows.. Things might improve. Hearn might have a lot of fights already planned, but he needs to get them announced soon.
The Italian/Spanish DAZN cards are not gonna cut it.

Yeah - it seems to take him a long time to get things signed an official. Perhaps he’s spread too thin but either way they need to speed things up - he’s been talking about this mid September show for ages and now it’s been missed because of his inability to get something confirmed.

Matchroom are done in the US it seems.
They're having serious trouble at home too rumoured Sky/Boxxer are signing several of their fighters.
Who are Sky/Boxxer rumoured to have signed? Their launch announcement date has already been missed and it seems Eddie signed the vast bulk of his fighters to multi fight contracts rather than having fight by fight deals as he did previously.
None of the rumoured U.K. Sky fights (the Lawal fight and the Eubank Jr fight) are anything special.
Boxxer/Sky are doing the launch tomorrow supposedly.
Hughie Fury
Savannah Marshall
Lewis Ritson
Josh Kelly
Riakporhe
Eubank jr
Lee Selby
Andrew Selby
Ryan Walsh
Hosea Burton
All linked with signing for Sky and a few more. Guess we wait and find out tomorrow.

Interesting. You wonder what’s happened with Hughie Fury - whenever Peter Fury’s interviewed he says they’re waiting for a date for Hughie to fight AJ’s then nothing.
I’d be surprised if Savannah goes but she’s with Peter too I guess and hasn’t exactly been kept active. I think Matchroom did well with Ritson so I’m surprised at the one but not so much with the rest.

Yeah was obvious there was a fallout, Peters recent interview and tweet hinted at it.
Hughie promised dates for months ago and never happened. Possibly Savannah too. Some of the others likely ran out of contract with Matchroom or weren't getting dates.
Also talk that there are solicitors letters going around so some of the moves may be acrimonious between Matchroom and Boxxer.
There's a lot happening behind the scenes at the moment I suspect we haven't heard the half of it.

It actually probably doesn't in the grand scheme of things - just that he is so "open" with his near daily updates with the Kugan and the like that it feels like its long. Pacquiao vs Spence (okay an ill fated example) but it felt like - Boom signed - now that was brilliant when it was announced cos it took everyone by surprise. Now in reality that possibly / probably took months and months of negotiations - but no one seemingly knew there were negotations being made at all because the promoters were less open to interviews etc.
Its the same with fight camp 2 - that was Eddie's show even in Eddie's HQ.... but the "pre announced" hype and the daily updates just even took the sheen off it when there was a more formal announcement. We had the regular updates on whether Eddie was going to stay at Sky or leave Dazn, then we had the daily updates on the proposed dates, then the daily updates / hints on the fighters (which would "blow us away"), then the daily updates / hints on the presenting team - I got bored when they did announce it. I think the "game changed" promo would have been so much more effective if it wasn't the "worst kept secret in boxing" and we all knew, analysing the interviews back in December what was going to happen.
But then I guess with the low number of UK shows what else can he really tell Kugan if they insist on doing weekly updates.

Not a bad start.. Anyone else Eddeh hasn't signed to promotional deals will jump to Sky.
It's good we still have Sky in the same..

That's what I am looking forward - can he knuckle down and do it. Perhaps a bad call to go on a long term (if that is the case) with Boxxer I was immediately thinking of a potential Selby vs Sunny Edwards match when Edwards won the title and with the possibly of Galal Yafai turning over also - it could be a good time for the lower weights and I am glad Selby is giving it another go - such a talent.
I actually am impressed with those names if true. Geniunelly shocked at Savanah Marshall and Hughie being there - I think Lauren Price really better look at her options before signing with a company as Marshall vs Price must be a long term plan (although Price needs to consider the weight). Thought Hearn was going to make Marshall a bit of a superstar and aim for the Shields fight and a potential highlight PPV (well not PPV but you know what I mean) bill for the first time. Fury is still a talent, although not a draw, but still had enough of a name to be a test for any of Hearn's heavyweight hopes - at least he had some name value.
Think Ryan Walsh is an interesting signing - good fighter and I'd give him a good chance vs Lee Wood.
Shocked that Eddie has ditched Josh Kelly so soon, but not surprised about Ritson.

So we have Top Rank providing late house Sky content. A very good stable as well.. Some UK prime time fights.
They have Wasserman, includes CEJ, Hrg and Briedis..
now Boxxer are set to sign those above names..
Sky haven't done bad at all.

According to the BBC she is reviewing her options, Bunce said on the podcast that Price to go pro is a "done deal" but didn't say with what company. Bunce was saying she has achieved all of the accolades at amateur level.
Yeah its only Savanah Marshall who is truly on an upward trajectory - you could argue that Eubank and Fury are stagnating (haven't lost in a while).
