A really good thriller-noire. He IS a journalist, because he can tell a great story.
Maybe he'd make a good Prime Minister?

there is no good journalist as they will always side with some fighter as they forge relationships so unless you like the fighter there talking about you wont like em, no way is bunce the worst like skanksta says the man the man can tell a fable

This thread has got to be a laugh. Bunce is a great journalist, his podcast on the BBC is the best one out there, and his column in BN is the often highlight of the mag every week. Don't get the hate for him, surely must be an element of jealousy in there.

If you're looking for villains, try the youtube simps who give free hits to total bull in the name of access

The whole thing is nuanced. He's clearly not the UK's worst journalist, given he has fantastic knowledge and experience, and he's a talented writer (really enjoy his column in BN). However, he's professionally compromised by his insistence that he "tells it like it is", only to subsequently do anything but on numerous occasions depending on how he is working for.
Then to compound matters he can be insufferably rude and arrogant on social media.. No idea if that's reflective of his real-life personality (and don't really care either way to be honest), but it needlessly alienates people and just makes him look immature - the threats to track down some posters on this forum constituted embarrassing behaviour by any measure.

An example of a needless attack on the very people who have supported him.

I once tirelessly championed Bunce years ago even though I was in the minority

Whatever you think about him, I doubt he's been busier. So it's obviously working.

Being a moron is big business in today's hysterical social media world. Bunce is a bit like Jeremy Clarkson in this regard.

Bunce is an absolute whopper. Online you cannot disagree with him without him getting personal or condescending.

He’s like a minging, heavy AF set, bald, poorer version of Carl Froch.

Get in the bin ya maggot.

Shame… as on allegedly with Lillis he was decent.
Agree with this, the early hours double act with Lillis was the high point of his career.

Occasionally on BT Dempsey coaxes flashes of the old Bunce out of him but he’s pretty much just a parody of himself now.

Buncey's statement regarding no one has the bottle to say in advance if Fury v Chisora 3 will be a box office flop or success is a weak attempt of subverting what fans ARE actually saying beforehand.

Box office success is one way of measuring a fight (probably the most important in many people's view), but it's not the only measure and what most fans are clearly saying is a third fight between them is a big pile of shit and almost no one wants it !

I clearly remember Buncey saying (on the Costello & Bunce podcast years ago) that Fury v Chisora would be a good match....and this was when Fury was going through his re-emergence stage (post Vlad, pre Wilder). It was a bad idea back then and an even worse idea now :shame:

Box Office doesn't mean a fight is good or not.. It's more commercial value ain't it?

People buy a fight before it airs..

Plenty of fights have done really good numbers, but the fight itself a let down and vice versa.

Yep, and Just because the Fury v AJ or Fury v Usyk match-ups didn't come off, they didn't need to go to the other end of the spectrum and wheel out a perennial slugger in Chisora, so we can all see Fury master him a third time :witzend:

I simply cannot get my head around Bunce’s attitude to the fans.

I do not question his commitment to the sport he clearly works hard … but it is the tweets and him being so dismissive towards the fans is a massive own goal.

Too many people within boxing cannot stand the popularity of social media and them having such a loud voice in boxing.
