Brexit is or was a good thing but what has made it disastrous is that it has been a soft brexit with still some attachment to certain European countries. The reason why it is failing or has not produced the results that it should have is because you can't be out as well as in at the same time.

And I still don't see how Nigel Farage is racist or bigoted but I see people say it all the time. Wanting secure borders and limiting immigration as a whole whether it is legal or illegal is not racist or bigoted it is merely common sense.

From my perspective this notion or idea of multiculturalism ending racism and bigotry has been one of the best intentioned but most misguided of ideals because it has simply not worked. If anything there has been a greater divide.

I can go on and on about other social issues where certain parties felt the need to try to normalize single parent households and the like, only created more of a schism, but it is what it is. You can't legislate morality necessarily, when you have a society that has drifted so far from values and morals.

It is undeniable that immigration was a major factor behind many voting leave - apparently we were going to take back control of our borders by distancing ourselves from the nations with borders closest to us! Immigration fears were stoked by lies - about Turkey, the famous poster etc.

Another large part was dissatisfaction with living standards, the elite, politicians etc. completely understandable.

Why is it hard to believe that people who could foresee the coming problems would have tried to avert them? If a group I am a member of decides to eat poison in the belief it won't hurt them, it is not incumbent on me to abide by their decision. I may never have thought they should have been given that decision to make in the first place.

It may be wrong in a democracy to try and force your way of doing things on people by violence, but it can never, ever be wrong to argue for it, no matter what votes have been taken or which way they have gone. In fact democracy depends on people doing that.
