when he was growing up, Muhammad Ali had a cousin who was a boxer but who "wasn't too successful"
(makes you wonder, had they been an amateur or pro ?)

I remember John Long, he was a decent player. The family must have been surprised that Julius wound up being a boxer.

I don't know if is the surprising family ties between boxers that former World Heavyweight Champion Max Baer Sr. and contender Buddy Baer were the father and uncle respectively of actor Max Baer Jr. who played Jethro Bodine from the 1960s sitcom the Beverly Hillbillies.
