Henry Cooper was a surprisingly powerful puncher - he consistently weighed-in @ 13st 6lbs (188lbs), so with his 6'2" height was pretty slender. But Ali reckoned he'd never been hit so hard as when Cooper decked him in their first fight in 1963.

If so, a damaging, harder-than-average hitter but more of a volume/combinations guy than a one-shot. Wore you down & beat you up. Not likely to feature on anyone's list of pure British punchers, imo.

Augie Sanchez (who to be honest, didn't have much to ruin anyway).

Some journeyman did him in one round before Naz did, I seem to recall, & Augie got the call to fight Naz as they were looking for a soft one. Later, John Michael Johnson (of "I once knocked out Junior Jones!" fame) did him in one round in an equally scary way (according to orbtastic of this parish, should he ever "release the tapes")...

I'm surprised I have only seen one post wth Eubank on it... I know he wasn't the most likable bloke in the world but he had a monster punch

My grandfather was a great fight fan, and saw a lot of fights in the thirties, I remember he raved over Jock McAvoy, said he never saw a harder puncher.

Some of the replies 7 years back are ridiculous if we're talking about the "biggest brit puncher ever" as the thread states. Most of them mentioned were only bangers at domestic level. The true test is world level , and on that basis.

Lewis has highlight devastating kayo over kayo....botha, bruno,Briggs,Golota,were all brutal knockouts in their own way...he couldnt dent McCall though DD no one could

Lennox, Bruno and Hamed all had that great power punch needed to get you out of trouble.
Hamed and Lennox didn't always need it to get out of trouble and Bruno never seemed able to use his when he was in trouble!
