This might sound odd, but I am starting to hope Gereev actually goes somewhere with his career. It would be funny to see a fighter who has spent his time fighting pro debutantes and for meaningless titles actually get a shot at a big title - of course, given Gereev's current standard of opposition, that "big title" will probably turn out to be the WBB or something of that ilk.

What a night of boxing this is going to be.

Bad news I'm afriad my fellow triple-title lovers.

1st up, one of the titles for the Denis Simcic-v-Bruce Obek fight this weekend has been dropped.

2nd, I've just noticed Zap won't be defending his titles until December!!! WTF? I can't wait that long

Thought it high time for an update.

Rene Mahling, who, as you can see from Freiheit's pic, attracts belts and women alike to his torso like bees to a honey pot, returned to the ring last month after some time out spent polishing his belts. After another tune-up, Rene will (and this is the bad news) defend only one of his titles in October. I'm afraid I have come to the sad conclusion that the EBF has folded under pressure form the EBU. However, I know that one of it's affiliates, the EEBA, has been active in recent weeks, so hopefully we can see the return of this glorious title soon. Anyway, Rene will take on Mehmet Karaka, who lost narrowly via a round 1 KO to superstart Zapir Gereev.

Sadly for the boxing purists, Zap has slipped even further under the radar than Rene, and has yet to fight this year. However, the 2nd half of '06 looks to be busy for Zap, as he tests his perfect KO record against some of boxing's finest. http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=259022

Unfortunately, Zap's triple defence has COMPLETELY disappeared from the scheduled, so I can only hope that this means he will, with a #9 ranking with the GBC, be gunning for the full world title in the near future.

The president of EBF got busted in a huge drug scandal in Austria. EEBA Is (or used to?) an WBA affiliate for East Europeans.

A ha! That may explain the EBF side of things. And the GBC and the WBE have some sort of deal, with GBC being the European "arm" of the WBE or some bizarre relationship. So that may explain that, in which case triple title events may be a thing of the past.

You are probably right about the EEBA Freiheit. I can't think what it was that made me associate the EEBA with the EBF. It was some obscure article of some sort. Anyway, I'm sure we'll all to our best to survive without knowing the parent body of the EEBA.

The plot thickens, let's hope all these shenanigans don't sidetrack the champions from pound for pound domination.

The EBF was formed earlier this year and have been joined by the EEBA, Eastern Europe Boxing Association, in Ukraine as well as various martial arts organisations. Over the years there´s been a number of "pirates" on the European fight scene who all have folded sooner or later. If this will be the case here as well remains to be seen.

fornicate! Zap (now 10-0) lost his 100% KO record on Saturday. His opponent, Ibrahim Barakat, must have a chin of granite.

Can't believe Zap was extended over 4 rounds, a spanner in the works but full title retention is the main thing Jomo...and he scraped by luckily so we can all be thankful

Now we're talkin' baby...

ZAP fights Daniel Kaefer (7-1-1) for the WBC Youth Light Middleweight title in December.

Kaefer already has several wins over opponents who have a win to their name themselves. He came in a 174lb in his last fight a fortnight ago, but I presume he can shift the weight quite easily. Nevertheless, only one winner for me.

About a third of the video is ZAP ripping Karaka apart, and two thirds is him getting his various belts handed to him

Meanwhile ZAP's career is hitting the big time publicity-wise, as fightnews picks up the great one's story (of course the boxrec forum got their first)

Undefeated German based Russian Zapeer Gereev, 11-0 10 KOs, will fight Daniel Zell from Germany for the vacant WBC super-welterweight Youth title on December 17 in Köpenick (Berlin), Germany. Zell is undefeated himself with a record of 5-0-2, 2 KO, but had one more fight scheduled last night. The title was held before by Ante Bilic and recently by Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr.
The WBC appointed the following officials: Jurgen Langos (Germany) will be the third man in the ring while, if it goes the distance, Kurt Stroer (Germany), Bob Logist (Belgium) and Pedrag Aleksic (Montenegro) will score the bout. Marina Milanova (Russia) will supervise the bout.

Glad someone else spotted the "win your own height in belts" boxing shows those crazy T+Ters go in for. It will match RJJ's seven belt reign that he fought for 3 times - and that didn't even include the WBO, which was obivously with Michalczewski at that time. Surely no one has held more than 7 at one time. Come on ZAP, the pressure is on.
