I always thought Curry, despite being a fantastic fighter, was being a bit overrated by many. I fancied a real mauler could make him fight at a pace he didn't like.
Far better than Judah mate, no comparison IMO.
In his prime Curry had a great defence, high guard, chin down great reflexes, you can ask for more than that.
His defence deteriorated as he abused his body with drink and drugs and had to rely on weight loss in training, rather than woking on technique.
To this day he is the best fighter I have ever seen perform in the flesh.
Curry had a very poor defence, relied on his reflexes was too much. That's why once he began to decline slightly, he started getting battered. A little overrated in my opinion, but a devastating puncher with great speed. He was that era's Zab Judah in my opinion.

back in the 1980s when KO magazine were gushing over him his defence was considered to be one of the best in boxing.
I remember him him saying that Kronk fighters were defensively lacking after the McCrory KO.
Sometimes, with retrospect, it's easier to see the failings. I'll check out some old fights and look at that defence again.
I'll tell you what though Curry had the best wet-look hair gel in the game until Olajide came on the scene.

a peak honey outpoints a peak hitman IMHO - lloyd may have terrified bumphus but he tried to make friends with starling during their bout. offering a hand shake for no reason means your gonna lose the fight.
i loved honeyghan though, what a soap opera of a career he had

Around that time some of the 'trendy' kids at my school tried the same look.
Doesn't quite look the same on a 14 year old, skinny white kid with bad skin though.
I just stuck to the ever reliable skinhead.
