IMO DLH ahs slipped enough for this fight to be a sure win for Floyd.
As for saving boxing what we need is for Floyd to lose. I don't mean that against the man. I appreciate his talent. If he lost to Hatton (which I doubt, but let's use it as an example) we'd have a fight series on our hands and a rivalry that could stand next to the great ones of the past.
This can only really happen if Floyd loses.
Ali and Leonard shared the stage with other monsters of the ring. We need a whole cast not just a lead.

I don't see much evidence of him slipping. He lost to Hopkins and should have lost to Sturm, but really had no business fighting at that high a weight, everything he's achieved above Welter has been pushing it to the limit.
Floyd is little more than a lightweight by today's standards, and Oscar has matured into a big welterweight, the physical advantages, as well as Oscar's natural talent, make this a pretty intriguing contest.
nobody thought Leonard could beat Hagler after so long out, but look what happened.

I hope you're right.
I don't see size as much of an issue here as both started off around the same weight, although DLH may have a slight advantage.
The thing about Hagler-Leonard is that Marvin had only fought twice in 3 years himself.
Anyway, I hope it is a highly competitive fight that pushes both men.
