But where do we think next for gomez? Who would you have him fight if he beats mitchall?

Frank Maloney has to be man of the week. Promoting the fight, training and looking after Johanesson and coming up with a very good game plan which Johanesson executed perfectly.

Gomez is always crass and I'm glad he got stopped, but he played his part in a superb fight. After hearing reports of vulnerable showings in his comeback he turned up and gave a way better performance than I thought he would.

Where does Carl go after Mitchell win or lose? Its clear he couldnt handle the step up to European level and hes got his Lonsdale belt secured now so wheres left to go?

if Kirakosyan steps up for a world title shot, surely Carl can go for the Euro again. IMo Kirakosyan's good enough and will when the chance comes after Guzman-Soto-Arthur sort out the WBO thing.

anyway, there's plenty domestically for Ingo. surely there will be a Gomez rematch what with the "shocking" (yeah right) stoppage. then mitchell, foster jr - who's looking a very good offensive fighter at the weight - maybe even work up to an Alex Arthur fight.

I believe the Soto-Guzman winner (Soto) will bash up Arthur badly. When (if) AAA moves down, would love to see Johanesson v Arthur.

Think I heard Johnny Nelson, who does talk bollox sometimes, suggest Carl now goes for a third match with Kirakosyan...!

I think Mitchell will have too much for Carl although its certainly a big step up for him. Mitchell is just that bit stronger in every department but he'll not be able to take any chances with his defence against a puncher like Johanneson. Kirakosyan and the other brits aside, theres noone that stands out in europe but a 3rd loss to the same man would effectively end his career.

To be fair to Johnny though, that did look like a different Johannesson than the one who lost to Kirakosvyan last time ( I didn't see the first fight so couldn't judge). This looked like the version that had many people on this forum thinking he could give Alex Arthur fits.

I knew after the first round that Carl was going to win, cause he seemed unfazed and had great composure despite Gomez hitting everything but the kitchen sink at him and landing that uppercut at will. Ask me before the fight if Gomez would land so many clean shots what my prediction would have been and I would have said Gomez by early KO.

Kirakosyan is undoubtedly a big accurate puncher, but Gomez can still whack a bit and was accurate in the opener - Johannesson looked cool and relaxed under pressure in there. Something, he never looked vs Kirakosyan. I put it down to vulnarbility and a suspect chin, but it didn't look bad vs Gomez.

Although I do agree, I do think Leva is his bogey man - but it did look like a completely different Johannesson last night.

He left with security I know that.. I thought the stoppage was spot on, saved Gomez from a brutal ko.

Carl will beat Mitchell. Who has Mitchell actually beaten who any good?

I think Carl will win but I'm mainly just realy glad that this quality of fight will be on national telie on the Khan undercard because with fights like that no one is going to be watchin any other sport. Its what real quality boxing is and you can keep your heavyweights and keep your UFC.

This is what Carls about, hes a gatekeeper for the division...if Mitchell is the propsect that he is touted to be he will win..if Mitchell isnt up to scratch then Carl has enough about him to hand him his first loss...

I am not a huge Mitchell fan and think he is over rated by many but I just like him in this match up with Carl.

Stylewise I think he can stay outside, box and take advantage of Carl's slow starts.

I dont think Mitchell will go past domestic class but I do think he will beat the mini battleship from Leeds.

I dont reckon the fight will happen. If it does Mitchell will be stopped. Carl beat Burns better than Arthur did

i'm a little surprised by the general attitude towards Mitchell's ability on here - always looked game, tough and capable whenever I've watched him and given good value.
He would concede power no doubt but would be quicker. Am I right in thinking he's generally been a weight below Carl or have they boxed at the same??
