Also I'm happy to say that my preparations ahead of my next fight on March 6th is going well. Training really hard and learning loads from Brian. My hope is to improve with each fight as a new pro.

Darren - you come across as very likeable and down to earth. I really wish you the best. I hope it all goes well for you.

I heard you performed very well (understatement) against good pro Mathew Thirlwall in sparring.

What round do you think you would stop Degale in, in a pro fight?

For now i will just focus on my own career and my ambitions to get to the top of my weight class.. The important issue is that amateur and pro boxing are practically 2 different sports these days. And fact we have both have just turned pro, we will have to wait and see how both of our careers develop. I am in no doubt about where i want to go. And as I progress, I want to test myself against the best and beat the best (of course when im ready). So if James or any other fighter is in my way when the time comes, then i want to fight them.

So in regards to your question?? What round?? I will only say that If we fought anytime soon, I am very confident i would win. But lets see how we both progress. I know I will only get better and have not peaked yet.

Lets make the fight now and save all the bulls--t and you the fans having to listen to who is the best fighter and seening a fighters record being build up on nobodies. I believe in my man does the other side real believe in there man ?

But what current Irish boxers(if any) do you look at now, possibly more in admiration than for inspiration, as you do have a better amateur record than any current Irish pro.

Thanks for the support.

I didnt realise I was viewed as a 'hate figure' in Irish boxing? I agree it was a bit of a hostile reception on finals night but that may of been down to the fact that my opponent had huge support. There was also a lot of speculation in the media that I might be ripe for the taking after my below par performance in the worlds 07. I also tend to wear my heart on my sleeve and was emotional after the fight and may have said a bit too much in my post match interview. Sometimes confidence and self belief can be misinterpreted as arrogance or cockiness? and thats Something I aint.

The support and interest from the Irish public post olympics has been amazing!! The irish fans really do get behind there own when we compete on the world stage. I hope that i can provide some great sporting moments in the future on my journey to achieve my sporting goals. I'd like to think that my fights will be exciting as I bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the ring. I love what i do. Maybe this is the reason for my growing support in the UK?

On the current irish scene, I think Dunne has been the most successful in recent years. So I hope to emulate his european success and also go on to to win a world title in the coming years.
