Martin Rogan......where now?

This is a nice little pause and take stock bout for Rogan, give the Irish a new look at him against a game fresh opponent with a pretty record and a Prizefighter angle.

From there, he can see how the all the world picture looks following the spring work-outs and perhaps look for a beatable name opponent.

How big a pay-day would Holyfield be in Ireland if Rogan has mobilised a fan-base over there, just for example.

Rogan might not need a title shot for a big pay-day.

Lets be honest though David, we don't need to "see" how the world picture pans out... Klitchsko/Chagaev/Valuev vs Rogan is a one sided pasting. I think even my granny would be able to see this.

I agree with you about a big pay day not even being a title fight. Yes, Holyfield in Ireland would sell - and could lead to bigger things - Holyfield has the "should have been a world champion" angle.

However, not sure how Sexton fits into this... not sure how he leads to Holyfield in anyway more than not fighting him... and a loss (which can happen) will mean bye bye Real Deal.

There are a slew of crap, under motivated heavyweights out there that Rogan would give a stiff argument to.

Thompson, Brock, Guinn, Arreola etc.

He's just stopped the European champion who went the distance with Chagaev.

Brocks retired I think (eye problem). Agree on Thomspon and Guinn. Think Arreola is a yonger better version of Rogan.

I do agree he would have a shout against alot of these (Brewster, Austin, Golota) also... and they would provide a fair amount of publicity and cash... and a chance for a shot at the big time.

However, not sure how Sexton provides the bridge. I think he can go straight into these as a now top 20 Heavyweight. Sexton is a potentially dangerous fight with little reward. I just have the feeling Warren is using Rogan's name to try and catipulte one of his others fighters - twice its failed, now he has a young ambitious boxer.
