Yes, but did Ingle say he was the best sparring partner in the world?

It's wasn't that whacky, Brendan just advocated good footwork routines and body sparring. The nearest type of match making step up he ever orchestrated was Junior Witter v Zab Judah at short notice, but even Witter had had a good grounding in domestic fighters and overseas dangermen, like Jan Bergman.

He's gonna spend 5 years making 2-3 defences in the UK. There will be no talk of unification.

Unless he's get's a hard/decent mando, he'll fight WBO top 10-15 ranked boxers.

This is the current rankings:

1. Anthony Yarde
2. Gilberto Ramirez
3. Dominic Boesel
4. Umar Salamov
5. Jesse Hart
6. Maxim Vlasov
7. Robert Parzeczewski
8. Eleider Alvarez
9. Emil Markic
10. Blake Caparello
11. Lenin Castillo
12. Steve Ward
13. Fanlong Meng
14. Joshua Buatsi
15. Alfonso Lopez

Ramirez moved up to possibly challenge Kovalev.
What is it with negativity in this country. Loads of people saying fury would never fight wilder even though they agreed the fight. Yarde won't fight Kov. Now its if he wins he won't fight anyone decent again

Judge each fighter individually. If he's happy to fight kov in Russia I'm sure he's not gonna just want easy defences for the rest of his career. What's the point

Just out of interest, how did Yarde get to number one in the rankings fighting 18 journeymen not even hardened UK boxing fans have never heard of? They'd barely prepare him for a British title challenge never mind this!

You seem like a hard core hater of Yarde. British level isn’t all that mate...frank Buglioni, god bless him, wasn’t exactly a top level fighter and he was Champ not so long ago after scrapping past average fighters like Craig Richards and Ricky Summers.

Let’s just watch the fight tomorrow and see what happens.

If Yarde wins (I don’t think he will by the way) your going to look a right plum.

It just seems a bit crazy to be getting so excited when once the fight starts he's going to look like a very hittable novice. 12 amateur fights and 18 pro journeyman. What type of preparation is that?

I think you will be requiring some beersies to go with that :TU:

I agree in general, but “if” he cracks Kovalev on the chin with a hard shot first he will go..100%

I think it’s a real long shot and Sergei probably wins, but let’s see...maybe, just maybe Yarde is a bit special

Yes I remember that 'special' heavyweight Pele Reid well :) I'm not buying it for a second. He looks flat footed and easy to hit. Yarde's just fought at such a low level nobody has capitalized on it yet.

In the first Alverez fight, Kov was, in my opinion, in complete control after 4 rounds.
One punch ended that. :maybe:
Who knows? Yarde has stopped a couple of guys who hadn't been stopped. His chin might not have been tested, but his punching power has.
So, puncher's chance has to be taken into consideration.

No, not a 1 hitter quitter...but its possible Yarde can land a big one, stagger his man Alvarez style and get the KO/TKO.

it looks like yarde is overly muscled. hes powerful, and can hurt kov. but kov is seasoned and will bring the pain until a stoppage. i see a massacre.

If Yarde wins this it will be the best away performance by a British boxer ever. He has fought nobody up to this point and then go9ng in with Kovalev in his back yard.

Respect

Looking forward to this one. Its good to have a fight with lots of questions to be answered. Most fights we get to see tend to be fairly easy to predict.

I think we'll know pretty quickly which way things are going to go once the fight actually starts but genuinely excited to watch it unfold.

Like others I’ve been amazed at how relaxed Yarde appears to be, given the challenge ahead, and the back yard he is in. I’m wondering if it’s because he plans to do literally next to nothing for the first few 2-3 rounds, and therefore doesn’t have to focus so much on that first bell.

If the intention were to do something dramatic early, or just turn up and go feint for feint, punch for punch with Kovalev from the start I think the pressure of this upcoming moment would have shown on Yarde at some stage leading up.

As Riddick already reported, team Yarde plan to be cautious early on which I now think may be taken to the extreme this evening. It could also mean they are not even considering a points win whatsoever, which potentially takes away another area of concern and more pressure.

Yep, forget the early KO attempt. I think an exceptionally low output will be seen from Yarde early on as he tries to avoid any solid hits while working out how to land a fighting changing punch somewhere in the middle rounds.

Keep tight and focused, don’t worry about losing round after round, and wait for the KO opportunity. This I has got to be the plan, and why Yarde doesn’t appear to have a weight on his shoulders.

You can risk putting the kettle on at 7:30pm lads.

No it won't. Kovalev has been stopped twice already and is past his best. If Yarde wins it willl be an excellent achievement, but not the best.

Not long now till Yarde does the job by KO and we have another quality British world champ.

Let's embrace him instead of just making excuses about how Kov's totally shot to sh!t, even though he was quality last time out.
