Horrible match making by warren. Potential heavyweight cash cow is gone, also tarnished his reputation by quiting.

That's the bet I've got on, plus a cheeky little bet for a points win for Joe and a draw in case of the judges as Dubois is the clearly the 'house' fighter.
So we both made a bit of money tonight and maybe all the idiots who pick a fighter because he's a meathead who looks great knocking out Japanese heavyweights over a bloke with the amazing amateur career and solid contender wins in the pros can piss off back to Twitter where they belong.

Nice one, Big Joe. Finally earned a bit of the respect he deserves!
When the match was made it was clear Frank must have had questions he needed answering about Daniel. I disagree strongly with the poster above who suggests Frank made a mistake in making this match. On the contrary. He's found out what he needs to know.

Dubois fought well and he can come back again. Joyce was impressive - it shows you can win a fight at heavyweight with the jab. As for Dubois 'quitting' here is a quote from Max Baer when he faced criticism about quitting against Joe Louis.

"I could have struggled up once more, but when I get executed, people are going to have to pay more than twenty-five dollars a seat to watch it."

His left eye was completely shut closed and his right eye was on the way to closing. He should have been pulled out by the ref/corner so he had one other option left - which he took - and I don't blame him, his health is worth far more than his 'legacy'.

Very very few fighters have the commitment and raw determination of Danny Williams but it hasn't done him any good, I wish for all pro fighters to leave the game with their marbles and health intact.

Good fight and well done to both :salut:

More should be said that on the fact that Joe is now the British, Commonwealth and European heavyweights champion. Tremendous achievement in 12 pro fights

The post interview by Bunce/BT was poor and focussed too much on Dubois, when Joyce should have been royally celebrated.

No one should be surprised W@rren got it wrong, his track record with heavyweights is not that great.

Dubois tried but Joyce lured him in, kept cool, stayed ultra durable and calmly broke him up. If I'm honest I suspected a more emphatic ending....and it was coming but Dubois stayed
physically fresher than I expected. Mentally he was going by the 7th and Bowers' tone expressed panic during the breaks.

Joyce has rightfully earned a world title shot, but that might not happen for a while and in the meantime (after having a rest and basking in his glory) a defence of the European title would top things off perfectly before stepping up for the big one :box:

Joe looked so accomplished giving and taking big punches, whereas Daniel (at this stage of his career) appeared like someone who likes dishing it out, but not so good at taking it.

No rematch either, Joyce doesn't need to go over old ground and should continue his march to his world title shot :TU:

I think Joe may have added a few new supporters with his superb triumph.

Lot of people giving frank a hard time for putting Daniel in to fresh, and I 100% agree he was to fresh, but I don’t think it was realy Frank’s call. Think it was mandated for British and neither would back down. Love that. Love that two guys would risk it all for a low level belt, and if they realy refuse to back down not much frank can do. He can advise against it, but if they both say let’s go, it’s probably going.

My view of W@rren not being "great" with heavyweights is a long held opinion, but yeah, let's not re-write history....Dubois was the favourite, so Frank wasn't the only one who thought DDD would spark Joyce.
