His fight with Lara was a non-title fight. Hearn was talking of a "unification" at the start of this year.handsofstone wrote: ↑27 Apr 2021, 13:37Eh? Warrington was still champ when it was supposed to happen and it was assumed by most that he would still be after he fought Lara, the Xu fight was apparantly happening in summerBigDoofus wrote: ↑27 Apr 2021, 12:32So it would have been a unification without World champions?handsofstone wrote: ↑27 Apr 2021, 12:29
It was Xu who wanted to wait it out until crowds were there , like most he probably assumed that the Lara win was a cert
Thats right mate, i forgot he ended up vacating because the IBF wouldnt sanction Lara, the title was initially meant to be on line, doubt the IBF would've even sanctioned it as a unification because none of the other ABCs recognize the Regular title,BigDoofus wrote: ↑27 Apr 2021, 13:56His fight with Lara was a non-title fight. The IBF wouldn't sanction it. They were insisting that he faced his mandatory challenger. Neither of these facts prevented Hearn spending months talking of the "unification".handsofstone wrote: ↑27 Apr 2021, 17:45Thats right mate, i forgot he ended up vacating because the IBF wouldnt sanction Lara, the title was initially meant to be on line, doubt the IBF would've even sanctioned it as a unification because none of the other ABCs recognize the Regular title,BigDoofus wrote: ↑27 Apr 2021, 13:56His fight with Lara was a non-title fight. I'll be honest. I'd have absolutely loved to see them in the ring at Wembley/Cardiff/Vegas at any point in the last few years. Utterly brilliant fight between two very good heavyweights and the best two at their weight. And the gap has narrowed in my view due to Tyson's inactivity and Joshua's confidence builder vs Pulev.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑27 Apr 2021, 12:07 tbh i think a lot of ppl dont want the fight to happen, for the reason that it is somehow a victory for the 'machine'
look at the moaning about the location, crowd, etc.......it's like people dont even give a f@ck about the fight in the ring!
Good chance it will be a dull one I think, there is a lot of rose tinted spectacles when it comes to how "exciting" either are in fighting - they've had a couple of drama filled fights (Klitchscko / Wilder etc) - but there is a lot of quite boring, safety first fights also form both guys.
Hows Arum and Warren getting on in negotiations?? Have they made any headway yet??BigDoofus wrote: ↑28 Apr 2021, 04:26The IBF wouldn't sanction it. "Saudi contract within 24 hours" is looking remarkably similar to me.

For a laugh? I doubt he'd have time to play games
As for Arum and Warren maybe they should get off their arses and try make things happen, they've got 100+ years experience over Hearn, maybe they can do better if they really want fight,
If this fight doesnt happen only a simpleton would blame Joshua and credit Fury, you can lead a horse to water...
If it doesn't happen this year then UK boxing can go eff itself, doesn't matter if you prefer Joshua or Fury or are neutral, it needs to happen
They made as much headway in the Warrington - Xu Can "Unification" as Hearn did, but with a few less IFL interviews.handsofstone wrote: ↑28 Apr 2021, 10:47Hows Arum and Warren getting on in negotiations?? Whats with the obsession of Warrington/Can being a unification? It was never a unification anyhow because Can never held a legit world title, it was a great match up nonetheless, looked to be happening then Can decided he wanted to wait until Spring/Summer to see what crowd situation was, Warrington fought Lara in meantime because he hadn't fought in over year, Lara knocked him out so now Josh has rematch, simply put Xu decided not to fightBigDoofus wrote: ↑28 Apr 2021, 15:12They made as much headway in the Warrington - Xu Can "Unification" as Hearn did, but with a few less IFL interviews.handsofstone wrote: ↑28 Apr 2021, 10:47Hows Arum and Warren getting on in negotiations??
