32 first fight I remember watching was bazza mc when he won the strap. Was about 6 I think in a caravan in little hampton. The excitement of watching this with my dad on a small portable black and white tv.....had a dial on the side to change channel!! The honeyghen and minter fight are also early memories.
Also the tyson fights on a sunday morning on itv some of the best things I ever saw as a kid....was in awe of tyson so unstoppable.
I m lucky my old man loves boxing but I have two mates propper on it like me...I have sky, setanta and gettin a mac to get the fights I can't get on tv......I love it.

Barry Mc winning the title was one of my first boxing memories as well, i was on holiday in Weymouth in a caravan park, must of been around 11 years old.

I was at Loftus Road the night he won against Pedroza, I went to stay with a pal for a few days (so my mum thought) and me and my pal got the Ferry to Fishguard and train to Paddington then walked to Loftus Road, was there from about 10am in the morning, sat outside all day.

Brilliant night indeed.

54 in August. Been involved with boxing since I had my first contest in Ocober 1968. I boxed for the Arbour Youth ABC. It was on a Repton show at York Hall and I beat a Repton boy, R. Bootle on points.
The first fight to get me really excited was the ABA middleweight final between Roger Maxwell and Robbie Davies at Wembley around 1969.
I became an amateur judge at 17 and referee at 19. Turned Pro when I was 26. Been very lucky to have been involved in many great fights.
The sport takes a lot of knocks on this forum, and sometimes desevedly so, but for me it is the greatest sport on the planet

i'm 28 and have heated chats about chad dawson at local barber shop.

early boxing memories: benn v eubank (#2 it turned out), & buno v jesse fergusen. both guys said they were going to win in interviews. i thought: "bollocks, only one of you can win, one of you's pretending."

fondly remember shea neary v naas scheepers and mcculough v bueno, back when we used to expect good fights.

also collected the marshal cavendish VHS/mag collection with my paper round money, in mid 90s. learned that there was a better middleweight than benn and eubank, called hagler

was lucky to catch boxing when it was on sky. sometimes got mates/uncle to tape fights, sometimes bought fights off the classifieds in BM. told my mate, kid called "Logger", that a guy called barrera (based on mckinney fight) would smash the cocky prick naz. "Logger" said i was a "lying fvcking wanker".

when eubank fought thompson. watched rematch at mate's house. we laughed at thompson whining pre fight about "not being given no disspect."

40 and have been into boxing since mid 70s

IVE JUST TURNED 29 AND THE FIRST FIGHT I REMEMBER WATCHING WAS TYSONS DEFEAT TO BUSTER DOUGLAS ALTHOUGH I ALSO REMEMBER SEEING HIGHLIGHTS OF HIS FIRST FIGHT WITH BRUNO TOO BUT DONT THINK I WAS TOO FUSSED THEN .

Got my Bus Pass, trouble is I never use a Bus. Remember listening to Marciano v Cockell with my Grandfather my introduction to the Greatest Sport of all.

I was at Honeyghan-Curry, forcefraser (no kidding). My overriding memories of the night are of Michael Buffer labelling Jim Watt, "Jim Scot of Wattland" and of Nigel Collins barking "Duff's f ucking him!" after Duff laid on top of a jubilant, prostrate Honeyghan after the victory.

PS:...and getting to meet Jersey Joe Walcott.

It was certainly great to witness the brash, fearless Honeyghan at his best. We don't have too many fighters with that kind of mentality. Curry really tried to get back in the fight after Honeyghan had jumped on him in the first couple of rounds but Honeyghan was too hot to handle and essentially ruined Curry.

I'm old enough to remember some of Richie's first pro fights as a ref, around 1983.
