If you want a protected fighter then look no further than Bellew. All his 'big' fighters have been in his home city against guys that he shouldve dispatched with out any issue as they were touching British level. McKenzie is a journeying, nothing more so i dunno why everyone is suddenly stating Tony should get this much touted world title shot after last nights performance, which was boring and lack lustre and that's being kind. being kind.

He is a British fighter fighting in Britain so technically he is fighting at home. Although it may not be his fault fact still remains that he was more or less given that paper World title.

Murat is a Euro level fighter at best and if that's the best name you can pull from his resume then that says it all really.

People want to see Cleverly vs Bellew because there is nothing the British fans like more than a grudge match. I was just as excited for this fight when it was originally meant to take place in May then i was for DeGale vs Groves.

Was merely using Murat as an example to compare him to Bellew, but I'd be interested to see if you can name anyone on Bellews record that is anywhere near Murat.

And believe me, no one is more disappointed than Nathan that he didn't get to fight breahmer for the title, but like you say, its not hs fault and when someone scheduled to fight him actually turns up...... You'll see the real cleverly.

Tony knew who he was fighting on his last 3 outings and still looking terrible in them so i wish people would crawl out of his arse instead of talking about him fighting for a world title.

Hey i'm not hating on Clev, he does have potential, but it's sad nowadays when potential alone wins World titles.

I know Bellew is domestic level i'm not stupid, but Cleverly and Bellew are probably the 2 best British guys at 175 and their is this rivalry between them so from a commercial standpoint this fight makes perfect sense. The fight could very well turn out to be one sided but at least we will get some pretty entertaining press conferences lol. If Haye vs Harrison can happen why can't this? It's a fun fight for the fans. Add a couple of decent undercard fights and you got a pretty decent card there.

Don't write Enzo off just yet. He has the power to KO anybody at 175. That is if they don't catch him first !

I like Enzo but he is done. The drop down in weight will make him even more chinny (if that's possible).

What I do know is that I will adjust and adapt with each opponent! I'll play to my strengths! I fully expected McKenzie to come out all guns blazing but he didn't! That's not my fault! Had he flew at me then the knock out would have come I'm sure but he didn't so I continued to dominate the fight risk free!

I've been boxing a long time and that was one of the only times I've stayed concentrated throughout a whole fight! I'm grateful to my team and my fans!

he did put you to the ropes early on....he proceeded to do so & then slowed just loading up. i think the last fight had a bearing on him. he felt he could do the job early & once his ambush led to no avail he was scared of gassing & lost the belief to take you out.

you did promise fireworks tony. i sold this fight to my friends & now look a tit, they are asking me if i like green bowls aswell D

SKY promoters said half way through after 15 fights should Bellew really be having to say he has got up off the canvas 3 times in his career. people on the other post about frankie gavin are saying he needs to leave farnell and be stricter as farnells boxers aint disciplined enough.

Bellew went out won the fight with ease stayed on his feet and boxed to a game plan what more could he of done?

Fans are never happy anyone stopped to think, that the idea of a fight against clev is slowly becoming a reality. so he was practising movement, jab and a defence after all he boxed on the back foot for most the fight. For a proud man like Bellew this was a blow to his BOMBER pride but he showed he had a brain maybe?

people need to think of the bigger picture imagine him going in there dropping bombs and getting caught career over?
instead he now has the british and commonwealth straps surely european to come then clev kinda has to give him a shot


i was a massive Clev fan and seen fight since his 3rd or 4th fight IMO he has gone backwards since leaving Enzo and think if it want for Dean Powell in the corner he could be in trouble (seriously hope im wrong)

I understand the tactics, I even wondered whether Ovill was to become a bit of a bogey man for Tony. He hasn't, won't, and Tony can move onwards and upwards. My only issue was that while the tactics were understandable, such a big puncher not throwing one big shot is a bit off. However, Haye fought a similarly surprising fight against Ismail Abdoul and there was no long term damage done to his credibility or marketability at that point, limited as it was at the time. Like most of the guys on show on Saturday, I'm looking forward to seeing Tony's next move...

He got the win, fair enough, the sort of fight you just want to get over and move on. But for a guy called "Bomber", everyone was hoping / expecting him to step it up half way. Instead, we had Tony boxing like he was facing Mike Tyson in there, rather than a decent journeyman who'd lost 10 times already.

Then again. As we all know. fWank likes to keep the belts in house. If Nathan was to fight and lose to any of the other guys mentioned - then the belt is gone.

Where as with a Tony Bellew defence - its an easy to make fight. Alot cheaper. And with an easy re-match clause.
I hear what people are saying about what has Tony done to deserve a title fight. But since when did that matter ... this type of thing has been going on for a very very long time.
If Nathan and Tony are happy with it. Then as a 1st defence .. or is it a 2nd ;;-) ... its not that bad.

He did the smart thing, that cannot be a bad thing. Why get in a tear up with a man who almost had you out of there last time.

Yeah but he's got rid of his bogeyman, and can move forward. Its good to confound expectations. Good to add some wrinkles to your game.

Can anyone blame Cleverly for wanting to fight the likes of Cloud, Shumenov, Sukhotsky, Erdei and even Hopkins? All the haters that are calling him a paper champion and think that by Beating Tony Bellew will give him the right to call himself a real world champion when he does really do not know a thing about the sport, it is as clear as the nose on your face that Bellew is a huge BACKWARD STEP in Cleverly career. I say let him go and fight the above, if he wins then he shuts up all the haters (Or Bellew fans as they are also known ) if he loses then they can all say I told you so and Bellew will be in the driving seat, lets see if Cleverly looses his title if Tony is so up to fight him And truth is even if he does lose his title then Bellew can make his own way through the division rather than trying to leap over others more deserving If he is as good as he thinks he surely will
