If my living situation was different then I would subscribe to the channel when it went that way depending on the quality of the productions during the 2/3 month free period. I would personally rather pay £10 a month for a boxing channel than pay the £22 a month I paid for Sky Sports. Whilst on Sky sports I will catch Man Utd if they are on, the odd bit of Rugby and Premier League darts but the only reason to me for subscribing is the boxing.

IMO this is really a good thing for the fan if they do it right

With my current living condition then their is no point as I am away from my Virgin box at the weekends so it would be a total waste of time.

If as advertised. It really does show 8 live shows a month .. and older archive fights .. and a talk show/news program .. then it sounds excellent. And definetly worth the £10 a month.

If however the live shows are all about non-competitive mis-matches. If the archive older fights are all Ali/Frazier type instead of contempory greats like Mayweather/Pacman .. if the talk show/news program is an advertisement show for FW shows ... then I`ll give it a miss.

No, only thing I subscribe to now is Eurosport online for stuff like SBK, BSB, Muay Thai and whatever boxing they decide to show. Got rid of Sky when some customer services centre c*nt refused to give me the full package for a tenner a month. Will watch boxing on Eurosport or streams now.

£10 a month is the price quoted and if its that price I will subscribe, I love the sport (I know we all do so nothing intended) but thats my reasoning, I want to watch
as much boxing action as I can, this gives me another outlet, especially with him tying in the German/US action.

If he starts bumping it up then I would obviously think again but if the price is as mentioned that for me is not bad value for money.

My fear is knowing Frank I would not be surprised to see selective ppv events on the channel ala his magnificent 7 type bill for perhaps £25 etc in line with the showtime/hbo ppvs, again
dependant on the bill I may or may not buy at that price, would certainly not buy until late on as his fighters are prone to last minute injury when on ppv bills in the past as we have seen.

Shame its not on Sky as we used to get it but its a sign of the times, personally I think it will backfire as looking at this forum of boxing nuts he is going to come up way short of the required numbers to make this work and if you guys are not buying it I am as sure as hell certain the general public won't.

If you are comparing it to PPVs then you have to consider that a significant number of the shows to be broadcast would have been on "normal" sky anyway under previous arrangements. Given that Sky have said they are out of PPV (at least until something significantly PPV worthy comes along), Cleverly v Bellew, Burns v Katsidis, DeGale v Wilczewski, Walsh v Appleby, Chisora v Olubamiwo, Crolla v Limond, Gavin v Purdy and Groves v Smith would all have been "free" to view on normal sky (i'm deliberately ignoring the initial free to air period as one has to assume the same type of coverage will be provided following encryption).

The additional fights are the smaller shows, the amateurs and the middling international fights that may not have been picked up by Sky (the Setanta fights of the past). So from that perspective, while £10 a month (or £120 a year) seems good value for the overall package (I don't believe it is, but I can see how others might), viewed in the context of what is being provided over and above what we have had over the last year, it really isn't good value at all.

Also will it really be 100+ nights of boxing? That's 2 shows per week, every week. Boxing always takes a 3 week break over xmas and a 4-6 week break in the summer. That leaves maybe 43 weeks to fill. Unless Warrens fighters are going to change the habits of the last few years and all be out 4-5 times a year, I can't see how this is feasible. What is certain is that undercards will be decimated as the Warren stable is spread to provide enough single headlines. The upcoming schedule already indicates that this will be the case which will surely have a detrimental impact on venue attendance.

The editorial of this months always excellent Boxing Monthly posits that allegedly is looking for 100,000 subscribers to make the plans work. That seems wildly ambitious and more than a touch unrealistic given the numbers for Amir Khans recent PPV fights. 100,000 committing to an unknown schedule (as it will be once encryption begins), for a limited group of UK fighters and a range of foreign fights to be shown at unsociable times, none of which is available in HD seems a flight of fancy. Maybe I'll be proved wrong and the great British Boxing public will stick two fingers up to the austerity hitting the rest of the nation and provide further funding to Franks retirement pot and make this a success. Or maybe not.

Of course.......I'm not going to not watch the fights or end up shouting at some stalling stream on my laptop. I will be cancelling my premier sports subscription though which should offset some of the cost.

Boxing is literally the only thing I watch on TV, I never have the TV on during the week, except to watch Ringside.

£10 per month for a dedicated boxing channel is a no brainer for me, I love boxing and it is no hardship to throw another tenner a month onto my TV subs to get something that I actually want to see.

Two live shows per week, live coverage of the World Amateur Boxing Championships, Bunce Boxing Hour, and other boxing content looks like a nice offering of the sweet science and I hope that it succeeds.

Probably sky putting pressure on, Sky and Virgin have been at it hammer and tongs for ages, they probably don't want to let virgin subscribers have it, as they know a lot of boxing fans only get sky sport to watch boxing - if it's available on virgin, then why bother with sky sports channels?

I said i would absolutely not be getting this channel, but looking at the stuff he is putting on im going to have to get it. If they can keep that level of quality all year round then it is looking like it may be worth £10 a month.

It needs to be fleshed out more.

I know they are targeting Boxing fans for this and not Sports fans, but will they actually make that much money if just Boxing fans subscribe? Like I've said already it's just way too much for the general Sports fan to subscribe to.

For me if we keep all this talent on a channel nobody outside of Boxing circles knows, then the Sport will go nowhere in this country. Take Tyson Fury for example, nobody knew he was fighting a year or so ago, but now he's on Channel 5, he's probably one of the most recognizable fighters in Britain, behind maybe Khan and Haye. I dont think this channel is great for the Sport in general.

If I can get allegedly where I live, then I will definitley subscribe.

Like most people, I am not happy about boxing being less visible to the public, but I'm not going to not watch boxing because others don't get to see it.
I need my fix and will take my boxing anywhere I can get it

That said, I don't believe allegedly will get 100k subscribers unless they make it avalable online to non-UK fans (like me).
If they go online globally, however, they'll hit 100k easy.

If it was £4 a month i would pay for it but sadly I prefer watching HBO as they are BETTER.
