You do realise that your post was being negative when you assumed others would probably be negative in the future?

When was the second offer of the Broner fight since I can only remember one at 7 weeks notice.
Burns was already had a fight scheduled before the proposed date making it an irrelevant excuse. His December fight fell through so it would have worked out fine
So you being in and around Ricky You would know better than me and his manager, your some man rio for one man FFS guys like you need to stop reading things and making up your own assumptions, YOUR WRONG!!!!!!

So Burns shouldn't try to fight anyone good because people will talk down his achievements anyway?
What about gamboa....guarentee if he beats him everyone will forget about him ducking broner and he will be the man to beat at 135

If it matters, and I guess it doesn't matter to anyone other than you, I suspect deep down I was aware that I was thinking negatively when I thought that some other posters are generally negative in their look.

Gamboa is the best non-unification fight for Burns, but I want a unification fight more.

not the worst fight out there for Burns, i think some people expected a unification as i am sure Hearn did mention it was a possiblity ,but he is trying to build momentium (im sure he said something like that) up to it and Beltran is decent enough defence for doing it ... Hopefully Simmonds gets a good defence of his title on the undercard along with Simpson -although i think hes suppose to fighting for the british against buckland -

Billy, is Burns likely to be in a unification fight before the end of the year?

Having a look at the top 15 in the division on Boxrec (Broner unlikely to be back at 9st 9) is hardly bursting with big names. The only three fighters that Burns would get much credit for facing are Abril, Vasquez and Gamboa. Beltran is at number 8.
Burns' list of defences at Lightweight is currently more impressive than his run in the divison below (Cook, Eversen etc).
Demarco would be a better fight i think.
It
would be a good fight, and better than Beltran, but I guarantee that if Burns beat Demarco, there would be no end of "Broner ruined him" comments from people on this former.

I understand the point you're making there. I dont think Demarco is ruined though. He just came up against a better fighter. The same thing happened when he fought Valero.

The truth hurts billy. Keep avoiding the best fighters and the fights fans want to see and you will never be anything more than a paper champ. You ran from broner you obviously don't even want to talk about gamboa as he is too much of a threat.

True, and I don't think he's ruined either. Would be a great scalp for Ricky should he fight and beat him.

Yeah but in a recent interview i saw of Hearn, he was saying that the winner of Rees and Crolla could fight Ricky! I mean cmon now. That's a joke fight IMO

Outside of Abril and Vasquez, I think Demarco is probably the best fighter in the division. Aside from Ricky aswell I mean.

Guarentee the winner of rees v crolla is next. It seems pretty unlikely he will fight a current champ i would like to see him fight the russian who beat McAllister he was unbeaten and looked pretty tasty.

I would love to see Crolla in with Burns. Truly.
Fights like that should be treated differently due to the UK element (which always adds something to the fight). Eddie is right in thinking it would be popular

Lets be honest, Burns would deal with Crolla pretty comfortably! He's been in with pressure fighters before and Crolla doesnt have the pop either to really cause an upset. Aside from that he's never shown he's above domestic level.

burns' opponents have mostly been respectable or good. the reason for the negativity is that the broner fight didn't happen. now we have the backlash. broner represents one of those boxing trends, one of those flashy guys that can look spectacular but will likely become undone by the inability to keep his weight down. most of us wanted burns-Mitchell at the time...burns has that consistency to be good enough, in good company, at the same weight, for perhaps a long time. he didn't look great last time, but he found a way, outside of his comfort zone, vs a talented, cobra-like, wilfully difficult, opponent. interestingly jose gonzalez was the 2nd opponent to quit with a hand injury, perhaps due to hitting burns' long, sinewey arms.
gamboa - great idea. I love it. gamboa is one of the great talents, keeps moving up in weight and ricky has the size advantage. Vazquez is a tricky unification opponent, another crucial fight.
a while back, my bright idea was juan manuel lopez, who obviously has been stopped 3x in the interval. this was when ricky was super feather champ, and lopez was still a strong featherweight.

Don't talk nonsense its a world title and the top guys earn the right to fight for it and as it stands Anthony needs to earn the right, I just don't see Anthony and Ricky happening even if he gets past Rees which is going to be hard enough for him

Everyone is criticising Ricky and his team on pure speculation that he has ducked Broner. Got to love a bit of hypocrisy; Broner has just ducked an entire weight division so he can carry on the guise of being unbeatable. I hope he gets found out soon, maybe not against Malignaggi, but as soon as someone with a bit of class fights him his numbers up. I'm also hoping Ricky gets a bigger name fight after he beats Beltran, so many haters on here just waiting to pounce!

Hardly see how its nonsense when Eddie has openly mooted the winner could go in vs Burns. If Crolla beat Rees he is probably more deserving than the last 2 Ricky has gone in with.

Burns was meant to fight walsh on dec 15th, fight fell through as the last min. As soon as the fight was pulled warren was in negotiations with golden boy to fight on feb 16th. Burns would have been ready, he trained for a fight that never happened. His team didnt want it.
