There's no segregation, banning orders or intelligence on boxing fans. The prevention of football hooliganism is a well oiled machine and has had probably billions spent on it.

The Leeds fans were singing Marching On Together but cant exactly see them having been at Elland Road that afternoon.

I know leeds united football club hav got behind warrington and advetise his up and coming fights and his now doing very good numbers. Wen he boxed my cuz he must of sold around 75-100 tickets and his fans were well behaved and their was plenty banter between the 2 sets of fans. But since then I've heard his doing around 500 tickets if that's thru the football club your gunna pick up a fair few idiots who spoil it for true boxing fans.

That's a good point actually, its probably harder to get into a fight at football than most other sports these days!

I hope not, they were away at Barnsley. Where they kicked off... All people from Leeds seem to think they love the club, even if they've never been and don't like football.

I've never seen trouble like it at a boxing event, worst I'd seen prior to Saturdays was the fighting at Quigg Munroe I at the Velodrome in Manchester.

The first kick off was bad enough which resulted in a section of the lower tier being thrown out/ moved, chairs flying everywhere there was and it went on for a good few minutes before security/ police moved in.

The second kick off was even worse, more chairs flying everywhere and one bloke was on the floor out cold for a good few minutes with it all kicking off around him.

2nd time I've been to boxing event at the MEN, first was Hatton Senchenko and you couldn't even take a Coke to your seat let alone a beer, this time you could take as many beers as you'd like to your seat.

I'll be there in July for Fury and Chisora, anticipating worse trouble then if the alcohol sales procedure is as was on Saturday....

If they don't have a bar people will come tanked up or bring vodka in.

I had about ten pints at Hatton Senchenko whilst sat in my seat so did my mates. I have never been to a venue I couldn't get drink in. The security are useless.

I was at the Velodrome that night too & didnt think the trouble was that bad.

Comedy moment on Saturday night was the clown that tried throwing 3 seats that were cable tied together & failed miserably.

Was on a train travelling south to Manchester (well, West I should say). Same day as Stone Roses concert. Loads got on at Huddersfield/ Leeds/ Dewsbury type places and had a good old shout and a sing about Munich air crash. They noticed a Chinese (I think) man stood very quietly with his silent wife and mother-in-law, so then they started to sing "Ji-Sung-Park is a c*nt" or some nonsense or other..........They were only aged about 17-19 and not one worth a nut. Very narrow-minded, rude people. My point is there's an abundance of just such morons in Lancashire as well as Yorkshire, so this surprises me none.

wider point - why do these Arenas see fit to sell alcohol at boxing do's anyway? You get enough bother confined to the concourses where the bars are - at the Sheffield Arena to (Motorpoint) they were freely taking pints back to their seats and there were half a dozen kick-offs just in my vicinity. A complete joke.

For those who have been here a while, and might remember me, I have real issues with this. At Anthony Small V Matthew Hall (2009) Hall lost, and one guy felt it necessary to take it out on a guy and his wife who had just happened to be cheering for Small.

The problem was no-one seemed to want to or care to do anything about it- at all. It was serious assault- in a busy place. Had it been eg a pub, club, bus or chip shop then police certainly would have got involved.

There WILL be more incidents like this, but I can't see things changing until (sorry to say) someone is killed or seriously injured. Honestly, I can see legal implications here, venues refusing to (or being unable to) stage boxing etc.

What people say in terms of 'good and bad everywhere' is true. I was at the second Fury-McDermott fight in Brentwood, just down the road from where John lives, and both fighters had plenty of support from the travelling community. It was noisy but not violent. At Williams-McDermott in Dagenham there was a lot of loud racist abuse but no fighting in the crowd. At both venues you couldn't take a drink to your seat.

Tbh, and admittedly speaking as someone who doesn't drink, I'm not there to queue at the bar for 15 minutes at a time, I'm there to watch the fights, I usually plot up in my seat and try not to budge, I'd only need a piss and miss something anyway.
