I know he fought Prado who Quigg destroyed but if he's been the distance with Kameda, then its a good measuring stick for Scott
The Kameda/Sor Singyu fight never got shown on the Canelo bill the other week so dont really know how good Sor Sinyu was,i believe Kameda stopped him in 7 but Sor Singyu was the fella who Ambunda took the WBO from, apart from beating Munroe,Quigg hasnt beaten anyone of note to be in a position to be feeling superior to Ambunda, despite holding a regular title
Scott Quigg's next opponent.....

I think its just because Hearn was giving it the big'un saying that they would get Kiko or LSC anything under the level of those is disappointing everyone.handsofstone wrote:columbo wrote:I like you mate as you know but eff off! There is no way Quigg would box on 5. Mick knows that as well, hence the massive offer.Naandrew wrote:Yeah I think he would. Quiggs team must see some sort of risk to not do it clearly no mention of an offer for him to fight on Sky.pyenest77 wrote:More to it than that.
Quigg wouldnt fight on 5. Galahad would fight on Sky given the chance just like Fury did with BN.
Galahad whilst not a massive star does seem to be slowly buidling a fanbase and would probably shift a few tickets to a fight in Manchester.
I'd fancy Quigg to stop him but still really unsure how good Galahad is. At least Galahad and Henessey seem keen on the fight and basewd on the next fight looking to get into the WBA mandatory position.
Eddie had an interview today. ( No mention of the R word of course)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syLoYhS ... 45eHFGAduw
He is right about Galahads wins though Jazza Dickens was the only one who tested him and losing on scorecards at the time and the last two opponents have been really poor, unsure about what Tyson Cave can bring.

Is it mandatory that he has to mention Rigondeaux every interview or something?

It is when we says "nobody wants to fight scott quigg".........that's not really true is it? He really should have just fought kid galahad instead of this fight. Go back 10 years I'll show you plenty that were far more irrelevant. Would you go to work on Monday and do a harder days work for half the money, 'because your such a good bloke?' No, you wouldn't. The money is not there for a Rigo fight, hence why none of the others are fighting him either. Santa Cruz, Martinez and Frampton. Do we have to keep repeating this over and over so you can go 'Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr he hasn't mentioned Rigo' again and again.
Kid Galahad isn't rated top 15 by the WBA, and won't be when the new ratings come out.

Not quite a correct analogy, it would be a harder days work for the same money, but a much greater future reward if you do a good job.jameswilson wrote:

Exactly......beat rigo and hbo will be knocking at your door, would would be the biggest thing to come out of england since hatton to the yanks.......or alternatively just rack up countless defences against nobodies and lose more fans than you gain.ttornado wrote:Not quite a correct analogy, it would be a harder days work for the same money, but a much greater future reward if you do a good job.jameswilson wrote:

HBO or Showtime would be knocking for a Santa Cruz fight, and the money for a Frampton/Martinez fight would be exactly the same whether he beat Rigo or not. Hence why they are angling so hard towards those fights.rio wrote:Exactly......beat rigo and hbo will be knocking at your door, would would be the biggest thing to come out of england since hatton to the yanks.......or alternatively just rack up countless defences against nobodies and lose more fans than you gain.ttornado wrote:Not quite a correct analogy, it would be a harder days work for the same money, but a much greater future reward if you do a good job.jameswilson wrote:

And the Rigo fight would not make the same money as a Santa Cruz fight or a Frampton fight. So it is a harder fight for less money than those two fights.

But Quigg isn't fighting either of those two next, he's fighting Ambunda. At least the same money, but much much greater reward for Rigondeaux.jameswilson wrote:

The fight they were clearly looking to make was the Santa Cruz one. Why would they try and make a Rigo fight when Rigo only fought last month?ttornado wrote:But Quigg isn't fighting either of those two next, he's fighting Ambunda. Once it got to the point where it was clear the Santa Cruz fight wouldn't happen (and Quigg is openly saying he will still take the fight if offered it for Santa Cruz's next fight) it was far too short notice for a Rigo fight to be realistic. Rigo aint gonna fight Quigg on that date is he.
I can't believe I am actually having to explain that Rigondeaux isn't going to take a fight 1 month after his last fight. You are genuinely so far off the pace it is untrue.

Re: Scott Quigg's next opponent.....
Rigondeaux fought for less than a single round and was barely touched, why not try and make that fight? He came from the Cuban school of boxing, they spar almost everyday.jameswilson wrote: The fight they were clearly looking to make was the Santa Cruz one. Anyway Rigondeaux is calling out the other champions, and it looks like Santa Cruz wants the fight.
Quigg can wait in line to become a real world champion.

He is not going to accept a fight at 6 weeks notice to fight abroad. What people say on twitter and the truth are 2 different things.ttornado wrote:Rigondeaux fought for less than a single round and was barely touched, why not try and make that fight? Wanna bet £1000 that Santa Cruz and Rigo don't fight on 13th of September?
I'll make you the same bet that Rigondeaux doesn't fight before the end of September. Because professional fighters at that top top level have 10 week + training camps before fights.
Again, it amazes me I am having to explain how long training camps for these fights are and that what you read on twitter isn't always true.
Re: Scott Quigg's next opponent.....
For some reason I believe words directly from rigo over your opinion about when and who rigo would fight, especially when he is saying the exact opposite of what your saying! What would he know hey?

Like I say, if you wanna bet a grand that he won't fight before the end of September I'll take that bet. Why shouldn't you take it? He is saying he will take any fight, surely all these 'good honest boxers who wanna fight the best' will be banging his door down.

Re: Scott Quigg's next opponent.....
That isn't really the point, the point is Quigg is avoiding the best for meaningless fights. If Quigg had Frampton or Santa Cruz lined up then fair enough, he doesn't and Rigondeaux is available. Hearn wants a cheap opponent and not the best opponent, and this will continue as long as the public get conned into believing the WBA Regular is a legitimate world title. It isn't.jameswilson wrote: Again, it amazes me I am having to explain how long training camps for these fights are and that what you read on twitter isn't always true.

It is clear that Hearn and Santa Cruz's people have had talks about the fight, and Hearn and Quigg have gone on record saying they are happy to be Santa Cruz's opponent on September 13th in the USA. Quigg is in training for a fight on the same date, so a change in opponent now would not be the same as having to set up a shortened training camp for such a big fight, like Rigo would have to do.
Santa Cruz clearly wants an easier opponent than Quigg, and this will be clear when the next opponent is announced. Frampton and Quigg can't fight for as long as Mr McGuigan is involved with the other TV channel (1 more fight.) And Rigondeaux will not fight at such short notice, despite what the person who runs his PR and twitter account have said.

I don't think Rigondeaux would consider beating a regular non-champion a big fight.
Hearn would consider it a big fight as Rigondeaux wouldn't come cheap.
