This sounds very promising in terms of ITV's commitment to boxing.

ITV executive Niall Sloane said: 'This is a first step back into boxing for us and it is very exciting.
'It used to be that fighters were built up on terrestrial television before going on to pay-per-view with the likes of Sky. But lately the wider public have been deprived of the chance of seeing brilliant youngsters like Carl.'

Now imagine the impact of a promoter, acting on behalf of ITV, winning the purse bid for Andy Lee Vs. BJS. Very unlikely but an interesting thought.

Another quote from "an excited" Niall Sloane today:

"It has not been determined if this is a one-and-done for ITV, but hopefully it will lead to more. This fight presents an opportunity to showcase a young, exciting British boxer to our audience. We're looking forward to bringing viewers an evening of world class boxing."

I suppose this could be a sink or swim affair. As boxing fans all we can do is tune into ITV on the night and make sure we floor ITV's Twitter and Facebook pages with praise.

Undercard on ITV4, then over to ITV1 for the main event. If they plug the fight in the show on before hopefully a lot of people will keep it on and watch the fight instead of turning over to watch match of the day.

Superb stuff,it cant come soon enough, I'm gonna spend the coming weeks telling anyone who'll listen Carl Frampton's gonna be a star and they have to watch him,get on it early and enjoy the ride
