reports from ireland suggest that frampton next fight with avalos is heading for an online ppv stream rather than sky, allegedly or others suggested - this means the promoters would collect a wedge of coin directly but streams are not easily accessed for everyone. the undercard could also suffer off this with more latvians taken over.

I'm not paying any more SKY ppv, it's my new years resolution - it's ridiculous that ordinary people living ordinary lives worry about whether promoters, television execs and professional sportsmen earn enough and feel guilty over their plight they'll pay an extra £15 to help them out.

People said he didn't know what he was doing when he took Frampton away from Sky and Matchroom. He got a TV deal, eliminator for the IBF, then the WBC, brought Martinez over for a voluntary, the Odyssey wasn't big enough for the fight, so they built a stadium capable of hosting it. He's done a great job so far, guided him from the day he turned pro to selling out arenas and a world title. This, if true, is a bit of a left field move, but he's done everything right so far, so I'll hold off on criticising him for it until we find out more about how it will work, if it brings in more than having the fight on Sky or allegedly would, he's done a good job.

Barry's played it ok so far but this is a dick move. If he can't get the TV situation sorted for a world title fight when Frampton is just about ready to hit the big time, then he really has stuffed it up.

allegedly or Sky, that's the choices and that's who you have to work with if you want your fights on decent TV coverage in the UK.

They can stream live over the internet in HD perfectly easily with no difference in picture quality.

I imagine the issue of options is decisive in a situation like this, any broadcaster who gives Barry a decent fee for a one fight deal would be shortsighted; they just get a single night of boxing. For a fighter like Frampton, I can see sky and BN demanding options on Carl's next few fights too.

This situation highlights the pitfalls of announcing the show before you have a broadcast partner.

In the month of feb, fans will pay forty to fifty to sky for sky sports, and 12 to BN. It's asking too much expect us to fork out a third charge, for a single show. It is a nothing fight, it's not like he is facing Rigondeux or Quigg.

We still don't actually know what they're doing with it, the price or how it will work. I'd much rather see this than them go back to Sky.
