It's always someone else's fault really from what I can tell,
Booth : let him down
Paddy : couldn't get the best out of him

if it goes wrong with Mcguigan what's the excuse going to be this time.
Since the Degale fight he has gone down hill, yes he has had world title fights but has he won them. no. Degale rebuilt himself won the European title and took the long road but yeah he got to the world title level first, Groves needs to do the same before he damages his career in the long run.

The British, Commonwealth and European titles all belong to different boxers now and Groves should be able to beat them with his experience, doing so convincingly will prove more of a point than fighting another world champion who he isn't ready for

Doubtless it will be he wasn't getting enough of Shane's focus.

Can't see him fighting Callum Smith for the British. Huge risk of a fight for a British title.
Groves is also used to good money so he will probably have to be matched tough.

Buglioni or Fielding would have been better return fights than Di Luisa and probably have gotten him a better pay day...

Agreed. Di Luisa is a awful main event. Especially with how easily Bute beat him.

Admittedly Callum smith might be too much of a risk for him, undefeated up and coming boxer. but you've still got Hadillah Mohoumadi who holds the EBU title and he lost a decision to Degale or you've got Luke Blackledge who holds the commonwealth belt and you can't say Groves doesn't stand more than a chance against both of them and he'd leave with a worth while title instead of a lesser belt from one of the world title organisations

The EBU route would be a good option.
So much talent in the UK at super middle.

I agree.

The best trainer for George Groves is George Groves.

I think if you keep meeting people you think are wankers and no good then its probably you. They may have got Groves on a bad day but he's not going to have a diplomatic career after he's done boxing.

Exactly the European route gives him so many more options to really rebuild himself against a lot of different styles and abilities and that is what I think he needs, well that and a trainer who puts him in his place properly and gets him to work properly and doesn't play to his ego.

The UK scene now is developing quickly as well with people like Callum Smith, Luke Blackledge, David Brophy and even established names like Paul Smith and Tony Dodson are making a bit of noise lately, if groves doesn't start shaping up quick he'll just get passed by soon enough

I must be missing something here, he lost in a world title bid a few months ago and is back this month and now Paul Smith (who he nearly decapitated) and Tony Dodson are in danger of passing him! I agree, he hasn't looked great since the Froch fight, but he still won a European title straight after.

I'd like to see Groves take on Bute. They could name the event "The Leftovers".

Groves has become really stand offish. Never interacts with fans. Closed his merchandise store. Seems very disillusioned with the sport. Ripping into Paddy Fitzpatrick, who is hinting at Smith beating GG too.
Saw a comment on Paddy's twitter saying Groves' arrogance may have been his downfall and that GG was annoyed when Fitzpatrick said Badou jack was a good fighter. WTF?

Attention and money affect people differently, it seems it's not done a lot for Georges personality.

Since the last of his many losing attempts at winning a title Dodson has beaten a bloke with 44 losses on his slate, a Latvian novice and next time out he's fighting someone who's been unable to win a Southern Area title three times (KO'd in all three as well) Groves has lost some momentum but it will be a long time before Dodson 'passes him'

As for Smith, do you think he's ever see 168lbs again?
If the money is there, he'll go down to light middle! Murray v Smith at 168lbs will probably land at the Echo around April.
