This has surprised me, Fury has to be favoured in my book, even though it would be hard for Wlad to put in a worse performance than he did first time around i still think Fury is the one who can, and most likely will, improve on his performance.

Anyone else make Wlad favourite to win the rematch, or have it a 50/50 fight?
Yes I do - when I first saw the fight I thought - Fury has his number, he'll beat him again. I had it MUCH closer on a viewing a week or so later (still Fury, but not by a lot).... Remember Sky's card was odd also, Glenn had it all on the last round and gave that round to Fury - just so he can say Fury was the winner. There was no way Fury won the last round.

Anyway - I think in Germany, Fury might well improve on his performance.... I don't think Klitchsko can do anything else other than improve. So I think Klitchsko, might be controvesial, might be a robbery - but there wasn't a great deal in fight 1.
Yes, it is worth remembering that Fury did almost nothing himself, it was a dire fight, however, he did always look in control, whereas Wlad looked totally gunshy and hapless. That and the fact Wlad landed almost nothing of any consequence was the difference.

I just think Wlad, unless he WAS really out of sorts coming into the fight, is a busted flush against Fury, and he also showed his age a little bit against someone who was quick enough to expose his lack of mobility.

We shall see, but I think I'll have a punt on Fury winning by KO late doors, I've got a sneaking suspicion Wlad might quit during the fight or his corner pull him out.

I can't see anything other than a Fury win. No matter how hard Wladimir trains, he won't ever have the stamina to match Fury, and he is too scared to be hit to let his hands go. I can see Fury stopping him even.
I think wlad will stop fury tbh, fury got hit with one right hand in the 11th or 12th and was still talkin about 3 days later so what happens wen he gets hit with more than one? Just my opinion tho

If he gets hit, not when.

Ask yourself why it was Wlad didn't land anything until then? Was he waiting for Fury to slow down, was he terrified of getting hit himself?

I expect a largely carbon copy performance from both men, but with Fury being a little more aggressive, though still employing similar tactics.

It sure was shite.

I'm not paying to watch it either - cue fight of the year candidate with multiple knockdowns and a thrilling off the deck victory.

Agreed. It's always the Klitschko opponent who is impaired in some way.

I don't think he was. Wlad is past his prime. He is 39 and he lost his speed, timing and accuracy. He would still be able to catch Fury if Fury fought a dumb fight (like Pulev did), but Fury fought a very inteligent and disciplined fight. He used his height and reach extremely well, his movement and feints made Wlad think too much. I think Fury will beat Wlad even easier in rematch if he stays disciplened and focused. Even for prime Wlad it wouldn't be that easy to catch disciplined version of Fury. For current, older and slower version of Wlad I think it's extremely unlikely to happen, unless Fury completely changes his tactics and goes for KO. But Fury isn't dumb, and I think he will use the same tactics in the rematch and win comfortably by wide UD or even probably late TKO. Wlad might be more agressive in the rematch, but I think a focused Fury will be able to see all his punches coming.

Fury's biggest weakeness is his lack of focus - but when he's got it switched on, he's a very awkward man to beat.

Wlad tried every trick in the book, from a mushy canvas to wrapping his hands to get to Fury before the bell even rang, but he was so chilled out on the night it had zero effect on him.

I forecast him being at his most confident ever in the rematch. He goes in knowing everything to expect. I just wonder if there is a bit more pressure on his shoulders the second time around ? even if there is, it won't be as much as Wlad will be feeling.

I don't think Klitschko has ever had accuracy against a mover. Byrd (discounting the mortal remains of Byrd served up for the rematch), Ibragimov, Haye, Jennings, now Fury.

Unless Fury gets caught showboating, I doubt Klitschko can tag him. He's too terrified of the counter. He's terrified of the counter because of his 15 knockdowns and 3 cataclysmic KO losses. When he couldn't keep Povetkin on the end of his jab he resorted to illegal wrestling, 300+ holds initiated without a DQ, to avoid engaging in a crossfire.

Fury by decision again.

He just didn't look fit, during the fight i thought he hurt his right hand. He also delayed the Fury fight once due to injury. Vitali also alluded to him being unfit in his post-fight comments.

I think if he did have any injury Wlad would have too much class to say publicly so not to take anything away from Fury's win.

We'll never know, but that's my gut feeling, he wasn't fully fit.

In the interview I posted earlier he went out of his way to say that he was in the best physical shape ever. I dont think he would say that if he was unfit.

Actually Gomez, there might not be so much pressure on Wlad, at 39 he's got to have one foot in retirement - if he beats Fury is he really going to carry on? I just can't see the logic - I think for Wlad it's one last hurrah, if he does win, either retire, or maybe a rubber match with Fury if the world is interested enough to pay for it, and the 2nd fight is compelling enough.

As you say Fury will be extremely confident, there will be some pressure, but I think he's shown he's a big occasion fighter now.

I essentially agree with this post. Except that where is the evidence of Klitschko slowing down? Yes with age some loss of speed is inevitable. But I dont think we have seen a significant deterioration. Just two fight before he dropped Pulev with a left hook as fast as you like. As you said, Furys performances alone is enough to explain why Klitschko came short.

I think the difference was, the other guys he was facing were plodding around the ring, I cannot think of anyone that Wlad has faced In the last 5 years who gave Wlad as much movement as Fury did, neither of the Klitschko's have ever been especially mobile, Wlad has decent footwork, but he isn't quick on his feet, he has good balance, but he cannot change direction very quickly, and he isn't an instinctive mover, preferring to try and occupy the centre of the ring and get his distance with the jab so he doesn't have to move too much.

If he goes in over confident he could potentially lose focus, i do feel there is a risk of that happening. I really feel it is his fight to lose, i dont think Wlad can beat him if he brings his A game.

I think you're spot on there. I think Wlad will be more ore aggressive and it will make for a better fight. However, I still reckon a points win for Fury will be the most likely result.

If Wlad becomes more aggressive i think its only because he thinks he CAN'T outbox Fury for the full 12 rounds. I'd love to see him take this approach because it will help tell us a hell of a lot about Tyson as a fighter, we would get to see if he does have counterpunching abillity, whether he can hurt Wlad back.

I'm calling it that Tyson will stop Wlad with a body shot late rounds.

Wlad certainly can't outbox Fury with passivity. He has to step in and let his hands go.

Your prediction gets me thinking though: when was the last time a heavyweight title fight was finished with a body shot?

Hmmm, Toney stopped Holyfield with a body shot at heavyweight, can't remember if it was for a title though. Surely there's something more recent anyway...
