The LIGHTWEIGHT game: *VOTE CLOSED*
Re: The LIGHTWEIGHT game: *NOW OPEN*
Duran over Leonard is laughable. Not subjective, not debatable, just a joke.
Re: The LIGHTWEIGHT game: *NOW OPEN*
I'll count up all the remaining votes later today.

GAME CLOSED!!!
Re: The LIGHTWEIGHT game: *VOTE CLOSED*
And looking at our final total, it's clear that this is clear why EVERY single vote is important because it all adds to the final outcome.
And just as in the Light Heavyweight game, Archie Moore defeated Ezzard Charles by a single point -
Roberto Duran has achieved the ultimate comeback and piped Benny Leonard to the top spot.
Anyway our top three were miles ahead of everyone else (I'm a wee bit surprised that Homicide Hank wasn't higher, but 4th is a very healthy position to finish in)

Re: The LIGHTWEIGHT game: *VOTE CLOSED*
Overview:
Roberto Duran was voted Number One 9 times.
Benny Leonard was voted Number One 6 times.
Henry Armstrong was voted Number One 2 times.
Joe Gans was voted Number One 1 time.
A bit of a scattered bunch there, but at least 15 out of our 18 selected Roberto or Benny has our top man.

I'm sure with that comment, people may work out who give Joe his 10 pts.

Re: The LIGHTWEIGHT game: *VOTE CLOSED*
Ike Williams and Joe Brown, two of the top 5 greatest lightweight boxers inay my book, didn't get enough respect. To me, at lightweight, they were better than the great Henry Armstrong by far.
Pound per pound, Armstrong was way better and possibly the greatest pound per pound boxer ever. But, in no way in my view he was a top 5 lightweight.
In my view, Williams and Old Bones, are top 50 and 100 pound per pound best respectively. Deservedly so in my view because of the body of work they did in their boxing careers. They didn't get enough respect in boxrec.com forum at all.

Re: The LIGHTWEIGHT game: *VOTE CLOSED*
Justice is served at the #1 spot. At the #2 spot, should be the great Joe Gans. I hope justice prevails tomorrow in the Super Bowl and the Atlanta Falcons win their first NFL world championship.Crease wrote:Roberto Duran is voted our Greatest Ever Lightweight!!! Re: The LIGHTWEIGHT game: *VOTE CLOSED*
It is interesting to Beau Jack and Bob Montgomery did not get any points, I remember that the Ring had them in the top 10.
Leonard for me the first name but I expect that Duran has more points, he was also an excellent champion and is very popular.
