Wilder ain't stopping Ortiz, unless he catches him cold. Ortiz is old, but has has next to no miles on the clock, so he's fresh. I think Wilder will win the first couple of rounds, but Ortiz will catch him and finish him. No way Wilder's chin holds up for 12 rounds.

Wilder has plenty of power though. He's knocked out a few that haven't had many miles.
Ortiz will have mile from the ams too.

Wilder has the power, but not the chin. Ortiz only has to catch him clean a couple of times and then it's over.

Well I guess we'll find out soon enough

Indeed young man.
How do you see it panning out?
I favour Wilder.
I think Ortiz might be too lathargic to make up the height difference.
Not planning on staking my rep on it.

I think Wilder will out point him fairly handily. I think he will fight at distance and use his speed to pick him off. Ortiz is really slow going by his last few fights.
In my book it would be a huge shock if Wilder lost this one. I reckon it will be about 118-110 to Wilder with Ortiz probably winning the last round looking for the KO and he might sneak another round somewhere along the way. Other than that I think it will be straight forward for Wilder. The ref might even stop it if Wilder pours it on in a later round.

My rep has been in the toilet since Wlad vs Povetkin, so I can afford to stake mine.

ortiz won't be coming to roll over
Dunno why but I think that’s exactly what he’s going to do
This is what worry’s me more than a anything. Ortiz taking a pay day and rolling over rather than Competing. I desperately hope not though as I think he has the tools.
If he do just roll over its a shameful turnout and he should hang em up

i think Deontay Wilder is improving as a boxer , i thought he moved well in his last fight, a big win for dentotay tonight , aj will have to face him if he beats parker
wilder moved just as well the first time he faced stiverne, and stiverne was even less of an old inactive blimp then. stiverne literally had nothing for the rematch, except more fat..
i seriously cannot see any improvement from his title winning fight.
do ppl really watch the fights with molina, szpilka, washington, etc and really think hes come on since stiverne 1? he hasnt closed 1 hole in his game
he doesnt need to to beat sloooooow luis though

stiverne was a total punch bag who brought nothing, and wilder was just as slick the first time he beat him
just strange to me to say improvement when wilder was rematching the guy he already had his career best performance against, and showed all the same and actually more movement the first time. stivernes tailor made for wilder (pretty much all dws challengers did better)0 and he was totally done when the rematch happened. a fat finished mess
and the fight was like 1 minute

let me ask this, has deontay shown this improvement against anyone other then stiverne, who was the guy he already did by far his best against
because i watched him vs molina, szpilka, washington, duhaupas, etc and its same old wild flawed wilder
but like i said he always had too much for ortiz

Wilt Chamberlain was famously strong!
jamamb wrote: ↑03 Mar 2018, 06:21why is it that you can also have slow big punchers and fast light punchers
Foreman's a great example of the former. In his case, his body was really planted and solid when his punches landed, so most of their force continued travelling through his opponents. Force dissipates along the weakest paths, so no matter how much power you have, if you punch a thick wall it all comes straight back down your arm, and a person leaning against it on the other side doesn't feel a thing.
Lighter fast-twitch punchers can sometimes generate fantastic power through acceleration, but if they've structural weaknesses (like wrists and shoulders), a big chunk of that power fails to drive through their target. Speed + technique + weight - energy loss on impact = power.
Wilder has sensational speed for a heavy (when he punches correctly), 15st is plenty of weight, and his frame's sturdy enough to drive the bulk of that power through chins without complaint. He might not be such a hard body-puncher, since his height probably counts against his technique and harms his leverage (shorter arms and legs are advantageous in powerlifting). But then who knows. I wouldn't volunteer to be a test dummy!
I do wonder what he'd do against someone who covers their head really well at the cost of their body... Remains to be seen if he'd move downstairs.

I hope Ortiz is at his best tonight, that he uses his his ringcraft & counter-punching to frustrate Wilder and hive him something to think about.
If Ortiz uses the angles, then he coukd expose Wilder's clumsiness.

It appears that if Wilder respects you, as he showed in the first Stiverne bout, he shores up his technique, is much less wild and open, and showcases pretty nice boxing skills.
With experience and growing confidence, he didn't have the same degree of respect for Stiverne in the rematch. He was a little wild and off balance again, but this time took Stiverne's head off quickly.
If Wilder wants to respect Ortiz---which he will early--- he'll use that reach and jab and thoroughly outbox the Cuban.
You have to respect Ortiz' power. But if Wilder is cautious and fights at a distance, will counter puncher Ortiz ever reach him?

If he can avoid getting clocked early doors he doesn't need to be Shades. Just a better version of Takam against Joshua, always covering his head and keeping it safe with a wary, continual walkdown.
You can manipulate Wilder onto the backfoot for stretches if you don't give him the scent of a knockout.
