Does Ben get any credit from the naysayers after his recent successes in the corner or is it a case of the old adage “it’s better to be lucky than good” applying to him ?

i dont count the taylor win as a trainers success, having your guy give by far a career worst performance where he got a gift over a big underdog isnt impressive, it's lucky judging

but the wood win was nice. he's a narssactic goof but overall the results are good for sure. i give him credit. even if his biggest strength is just being a relationship builder with his fighters, he does something they really like and makes them have trust in him

I don't give the Wood win any credit to Boxercise. Wood was fit, but I haven't noticed any actual improvements to his boxing, and not to his defence in particular. Conlan kept catching Wood with his guard down, really basic stuff. Never heard Boxercise giving him what for about it- like any trainer would when his charge was making such a 101 mistake...

Agreed mate. Wood got the win because he was fit, tough and powerful. Hardly attributes gained under Ben. His defence was poor, very much like Josh’s.

aye that was a victory for physicality over technique, if ever I saw one.

Ben does seem to have great rapport with his fighters. Doesn't make him a top trainer though.

The two fights he'd had Taylor have been a retraction. The advice in the corner from Bennisnt the best and I question his technical knowledge.

If he gives the fighters belief in themselves then fair play to him, but he's no technician.

Let's see the guy take a fighters from debut to the top, not guys who are already undisputed champions.

He does get a lot of stick, but I can see why. He's got one of those shat eating grin mushes that people just want to smack.

Good analogy. Yes, definitely the more skilled guy(lacking pop) overcome by the physically stronger (and fitter) guy.
So maybe Boxercise did help with the fitness, but definitely dropped the ball with defence. I mean, it's hard to watch a guy making the same basic defensive mistake for 11 rounds- and being rightfully punished for it.
