The referee was Steve Willis. Has he ever made early stoppages? I don't remember that, cause if he even has, that's not the most memorable stuff about him. :D

Fighters always say that, trying to argue that the A side gets special privileges.

All I know is that Thurman survived it and came back and won.

The referee made the right call in not halting it. If he had, people would be screaning that it was premature.

None of which changes the fact that Josesito’s claim is legitimate. Whether or not the ref should have stopped it is not his point.

Thurman needs to work on clinching when he's hurt. His inability to do that almost cost him that fight!!

Lopez’s claim is garbage. Thurman was throwing back while all this was happening and the fight never reached the point where a stoppage was worthy.

No doubt it was a torrid round for Thurman, even worse than the one against Collazo for me but the fact is Lopez's chance had been and gone before the round was even out, Thurman finished it back in the driving seat

Maybe, but not without a reason. Thurman can hit a lot harder that Lopez.

I think it all goes back Thurman punching himself out after the knock down. I knew that output was going to come back to haunt him. I think Thurman was more gassed than hurt but he chose not to admit it. He went hard after that KO and it wasn’t the kind of knockdown that warranted that approach. I could be wrong but I felt Lopez was more off balance than hurt from that left.

Easy for Lopez to make the claim. Easier for you to wave it off as garbage.

Fights (especially in the UK) have been stopped for less.

We will never know if Lopez’s claim would have been accurate. He has every right to make it though.

We do know it’s not accurate bc one of the best refs happened to be working the fight not some dope in the UK that just got his license. I’ll take his opinion over yours every time.

I can see his point only because if Lopez was hurt as much as Thurman was, the ref takes into account the ability of the fighter to put away the fighter and ability of the hurt fighter to withstand. So maybe. :maybe:

Lopez made a claim. The ref (apparently) claims the opposite. Neither has any evidence to back their claims. Believe whatever you choose. Your belief does not preclude the possibility that Lopez is correct.

Lopez was referring to all of those fights against the elite in which the fight was waved off against him. Thurman was not nearly as hurt as Lopez was in those fights so it’s a dumb comment. Not even close. Dumb comment
