Did you see WK vs Povetkin ?
80s Mike Tyson isn't Povetkin. In fact, he's miles better.
Does somebody actually compare 88` Tyson to Povetkin. Theres no comaprison. Tyson KO1 Povetkin.
Anybody remember Corrie Sanders.
I do rahman kicked his ass. Nobody that credits vitali for retiring Lewis gives Brahman that love for vitali.

Quite a few people could've beaten Douglas the night Douglas beat Tyson. Tyson just wasn't one of 'em. Holyfield would've beaten him that night, though probably not in 3 rounds.
Douglas that night may have done to Holyfield what Bowe did in 1992. He was that good.
Holyfield ain't Tyson. He wasn't gonna come in with a half assed training camp. He would've been able to handle and beat Buster Douglas. ANY Buster Douglas. I guarantee it.
Your guarantee is meaningless.

"Wisely matched"? Tyson fought everyone. Who did he miss?

Douglas cashed out with his $24m versus Holyfield. He came in at his career highest weight. Literally everyone knows this except you.
Yup he fought everyone but after he got beaten and older. Cashed out or not , Douglas whooped Tyson and gave his first loss. Don't know the reason but Tyson didn't fight Holy after Holy became undisputed to take his titles back?
Serious question: Are you new to boxing? Holyfield and Tyson were famously scheduled to fight in 1991. Tyson got injured and Damiani stepped in. Damiani got injured and Bert Cooper stepped in. Tyson then got dragged into the Desiree Washington thing and imprisoned.

Vitali pulled out of a few fights and then retired. Didn't even fight him after returning. I think Klitschko was injured like Lewis was old, but if you use one you should use both.

Thanks for clarifying. I agree. I don't get the hate on LL. One of the greatest HW's in history, IMHO. Size; power; speed; and great ring sense (other than two times he got 'overconfident.') Beat everyone he ever fought. Vitali had a weak resume and looked pretty novice at times. Wlad was lucky he had Steward squeeze the best of him. If they never hooked up, we wouldn't be talking about Wlad at all. Two words...Ross Purity.

21 months. I'm not saying it was the best Holmes but he's often made out to have been a relic when Tyson beat him. His later performances show that he was far from that.
holmes was very foolish to take on tyson with so little preparation, i think he only trained for 6 weeks after all that time out, his timing was clearly off i think with a couple of tuneups he may well have gone the distance with tyson.
James, Holmes is interviewed immediately after Tyson/Biggs and is actually discussing his upcoming Tyson challenge. Larry has successfully conned the public into thinking Don King somehow sprung the fight on him at short notice. He actually had more than three months to prepare.
Is that so, I stand corrected, however, it's undeniable that facing Tyson without a tuneup was arrogance bordering on foolhardiness.

Technically Lennox is way ahead of anybody fighting now, Joshua comes closest at heavy, but he lacks the fluidity and poise of Lewis, and the ability to control the fight.

AGreed. When he fought Tyson, Douglas was at his very best after years of not living up to expectations. Everything fell into place for him for that fight. Many people wonder just who might have beaten him that night. Of course, he fell apart (again) after the fight and was a fat blimp when he fought Holyfield. Douglas was always an enigma.

No he wasn’t. Tyson was messed up by Robin Givens, drug addled, didn’t train and completely unprepared. Tyson lost that fight rather than Douglas winning it.

I beg to differ. It was a combination of the two, but more for what Douglas brought to the fight. Douglas was primo and Tyson had a condom on his face between rounds as his horrific corner forgot the end-swell. 'nuff said.

Yes, didn’t even have an ice bucket. I disagree, if Tyson showed up in shape, Douglas would’ve been iced. Buster just wasn’t very good.

With who his opponents were, I'd have bet on Vitali as well. Lewis was the class of the division during his reigns and one of the best all time HW's. I remember you from other threads. You are the guy who is in love with the K's and think they were some sort of tandem.

I’ve been on this forum since 2004 and loved boxing since 1985. I don’t love any boxer, but I think some of them deserve credit. The Klitschkos (love them or hate them) were damn fine boxers, sportsmen and dominated HW boxing from 2003 until 2014. Whatever the competition (you can only beat what’s in front of you) that deserves respect.

Trust me, I prefer Calzaghe, Gatti, Tszyu, Monzon and a host of others for different reasons over the Klitschkos.
