Not to be overly argumentative here, but name the five and the wins that put them above "Big Mouth" Miller. I'll spot you two. Fury/Wilder. After you do that, drop the names of those already KO'd by AJ. in all of these lists, aj has already beaten some of the guys ranked ahead of miller, and of course aj himself takes up one of the rankings
the following guys are just some of who have gotten shots from recent champs but miller hasnt:
duhaupas (beaten by miller), washington (beaten by miller), szpilka, molina (2 shots), andy ruiz, razvan cojanu, brezeale , shot arreola (3 shots), leapai, pianeta, hughie, glazkov, martin, wach, mormeck, browne, totally inactive and fat and undeserving stiverne for his second shot
some of the last few champs best wins when they got there shot:
wilder--malik scott, aud harrison, calvin price
aj-whyte and maybe kev johnson?
fury-hammer and chisora?
valuev--cliff etiene and old larry donald (a questionable decision)
ibragimov-lance whittaker, friday ahunyanya, and zuri lawrence?
liakhovic--friday ahunanya and dom guinn (plus a ko loss to mo harris in between these)
the best wins of other high rated hws:
lol please dont tell me miller simply cant match the overall quality in any of these lists. no list has more then 1 guy defo better then him and in fact id say wlad is the only one who matches that. hed be among the best wins for anyone except maybe aj
wilder: ortiz, stiverne, and maybe duhaupas or scott?
fury: wlad, hammer, and chis?
ortiz: jennings, 46 year old thompson, and kauffman?
parker: takam, ruiz, huggie?
pulev: chisora, hughie, dimitrenko/thompson?
breazeale: mansour, ugonoh, molina?
now fair play to dill whyte for a strong run as a contender. he deserves a shot more then miller but aj already knocked him out so im more interested in miller as someone new
miller is an unbeaten new york boy and the fights in new york
so makes sense there too

Comments in red. I'm not agreeing with your rankings, but even still, you'd rank Pulev over Miller? What has Pulev done? And Parker? Lost two of his last three fights. This argument on this thread seemed to me to be about who AJ was fighting and how others have earned the shot more then Miller (who I loathe, BTW). I think the AJ/Miller fight actually makes sense, especially given the alternatives.ewenhay wrote: ↑14 Feb 2019, 14:18Joshua The Champoogiebe wrote: ↑14 Feb 2019, 14:14 Not to be overly argumentative here, but name the five and the wins that put them above "Big Mouth" Miller. Wilder...Fighting Fury
Fury...Fighting Wilder
Whyte...Fighting Breazeale and Already Been Ko'd by AJ
Ortiz...Fighting Hammer

Apparently the April date at Wembley isn’t cancelled after all, it’s just been amended to ‘An Evening With Anthony Joshua’. AJ will do some bag work in the ring, then do a Q&A over the tannoy system.
Tickets start from £500 on StubHub. Selling fast by all accounts, better get in quick.

Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Jarrell Miller - 1 June 2019
I'm intrigued by the fight. Sure Miller has only really beaten cans or washed up opponents, but he's very heavy, it seems like he can take a shot from looking at his fights, and he's always coming forward.
I'm expecting Joshua to win, but I'm curious to see whether Miller can test AJ in some way at least ie by being durable and by always coming forward and making him uncomfortable.
It would have been better to see Whyte-Miller first though, just to see what Miller could do.

Miller is not a top 4, 6 or even probably a top 8 heavyweight based on his record so let's not pretend otherwise.
As I originally said he might scrape into the top ten.
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Jarrell Miller - 1 June 2019
Agreed. My biggest opposition is that Miller hasn't come close to fighting on this level yet. He may be ill-prepared in that regard. In for a unpleasant shock.Nondescript wrote: ↑14 Feb 2019, 14:34 I'm intrigued by the fight. miller is rated top 10 by every major publication or ranking site ive seen so far, so stop with the 'well maybe just maybe he might arguably be barely top 10 at best' waffle:
#6 boxing monthly
#6 boxrec
#6 pbo
#7 espn
#7 transnational rankings board
#8 boxrec forum
#9 the ring
#9 boxing news
in all of these lists, aj has already beaten some of the guys ranked ahead of miller, and of course aj himself takes up one of the rankings
the following guys are just some of who have gotten shots from recent champs but miller hasnt:
duhaupas (beaten by miller), washington (beaten by miller), szpilka, molina (2 shots), andy ruiz, razvan cojanu, brezeale , shot arreola (3 shots), leapai, pianeta, hughie, glazkov, martin, wach, mormeck, browne, totally inactive and fat and undeserving stiverne for his second shot
some of the last few champs best wins when they got there shot:
wilder--malik scott, aud harrison, calvin price
aj-whyte and maybe kev johnson?
fury-hammer and chisora?
valuev--cliff etiene and old larry donald (a questionable decision)
ibragimov-lance whittaker, friday ahunyanya, and zuri lawrence?
liakhovic--friday ahunanya and dom guinn (plus a ko loss to mo harris in between these)
the best wins of other high rated hws:
lol please dont tell me miller simply cant match the overall quality in any of these lists. no list has more then 1 guy defo better then him and in fact id say wlad is the only one who matches that. hed be among the best wins for anyone except maybe aj
wilder: ortiz, stiverne, and maybe duhaupas or scott?
fury: wlad, hammer, and chis?
ortiz: jennings, 46 year old thompson, and kauffman?
parker: takam, ruiz, huggie?
pulev: chisora, hughie, dimitrenko/thompson?
breazeale: mansour, ugonoh, molina?
now fair play to dill whyte for a strong run as a contender. he deserves a shot more then miller but aj already knocked him out so im more interested in miller as someone new
miller is an unbeaten new york boy and the fights in new york
so makes sense there too
the people who think this is some awful sh!tty fight and '@#@#! aj and hearn for this!!' etc are delusional about what sh!tty fights and challengers really are.
There's more than 5 guys with a better record than Miller and who have competed at a higher level than Miller has.
You're just defending Hearn and Joshua blindly as you often tend to do.
'waaah, your just blind for eddeh and aj, waaah!'
i posted facts bruh, you posted failure
5 of the 7 fighters above him have not yet fought Joshua for a world title., So that's 5 fights they could have made before even considering Miller or the guys around him.
What are these facts that you are referring to?
aside from that, very fitting opponent for a us debut in new york, millers home town
and stop ducking the question, for which active hws would miller not at all be in there list of there top wins?

I'm expecting Joshua to win, but I'm curious to see whether Miller can test AJ in some way at least ie by being durable and by always coming forward and making him uncomfortable.
It would have been better to see Whyte-Miller first though, just to see what Miller could do.
I'm not against the fight we are where we are. And as a sensible poster said it will be interesting to see what level Miller is at. Might even be a chance for him to improve his ranking even if he loses.
You're the only one desperate to convince us that this is a great fight. It's not anywhere near the best fight out there. There are at least 5 better ranked opponents that he hasn't faced for the World title yet.
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Jarrell Miller - 1 June 2019
not saying its a great fight at all, just dont get some of the backlash or commentary of it being a poor fight, think thats totally off the mark

I just posted 8 heavyweights that deserve to be ranked higher than Miller without even debating his merits against any of those outside that list.

Miller is not a top 4, 6 or even probably a top 8 heavyweight based on his record so let's not pretend otherwise.
As I originally said he might scrape into the top ten.
Three have already been kayoed vs AJ (Whyte/Pov/Parker).
Two are fighting each other (Wilder Fury).
That leaves Ortiz and Pulev.
Pulev has done shvt to earn a shot
and Ortiz is fighting Hammer.
Fighting Miller in America is a fine matchup. Regarding the ranking, the best I can do to 'compromise" is to put Whyte and Pov above Miller but that's about it, outside of Fury/Wilder.

We're not going to agree on this one and that's fine.
I think the previous Whyte fight doesn't count as it wasn't for a world title and its unfair to bar Whyte from a title shot based on a defeat in a non title fight earlier in both of their careers.
They had plenty of chance to make a fight with Wilder and Fury too. That fight hasn't been announced yet.
Ortiz fight could easily have been made and they almost fought Pulev before Takam stepped in so that could have been made.
Other than that facing Miller in NYC makes sense. We don't know what level Miller is at though. You admit yourself he hasn't mixed at a decent level. He may prove himself to be a top heavyweight but he hasn't so far.
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Jarrell Miller - 1 June 2019
I agree. I've never vehemently disagreed with you, just that Miller seems to be the only logical foe for AJ right now, given that Fury/Wilder happens, and that he's a top 10. For the record, I'm no AJ fan and I hate Miller, so seeing Miller get his arse whupped is ok by me!ewenhay wrote: ↑14 Feb 2019, 14:50oogiebe wrote: ↑14 Feb 2019, 14:45You listed eight fighters including AJ. Parker wasn't kod either
Its a weak division at the end of the day if fighters are being greedy there's only so many good fights that can be made
