Two big men sure.

Not the biggest fight, but big to the boxing fan community.

Biggest HW fight at this point is Joshua vs Wilder.

We have seen Fury vs Wilder, pretty decent fight but could have been better.

On the day of the fight, it will be the biggest fight of that day.

Well hopefully that is something we can all agree on.

In all seriousness I'm struggling to understand how anyone could think this is a particularly big fight, never mind one of the biggest in history. They are both huge men but there have been fights involving physically bigger fighters - not too many at world level though - so not in that sense.

No, from what he's said since he clearly means biggest in terms of significance. How can it be? Many people are not even expecting it to be competitive. I think it will be but surely to be one of the biggest fights in history, one of the very minimum requirements is that everyone is expecting a competitive fight?

Joshua vs. Miller is not among the 10 biggest fights at HW since 2017............
The border-line mismatch............
Getnada is laughing, surely ("What kind of idiots on this forum" ?)............. :yay:

You can't expect him to know about all the fighters that were around in his grandpa's time

That's very true.

Young'uns usually restrict their knowledge of history to events that occured no earlier than 6 months ago.

ldlamb wrote: 20 Mar 2019, 16:55 Based on their last fights...you’re looking at about 560 lbs in the ring.
A full side of beef.
Impressive girth indeed.

But not as hefty as when Valuev defended his WBA crown in a pathetic encounter with Jameel McCline.

There must have been about 700 lbs in the ring that night.

Valuev retained when the blubbery McCline plopped to the canvas and injured his knee, unable to continue.

Joshua and Big Baby won't come close to eclipsing that gigantic matchup.
LOL! IF Joshua comes in at 250 and Miller at 315, I think it's close.

You're right.

I checked the official weights: Valuev 322, Big Time McCline 268. A total of 590 lb.

Seems light. McCline's man boobs must have been subtracted from the official weights, per WBA policy.

So Miller and Joshua would be in the ballpark at 565 total.

I suspect that Big Baby may enter under 300 lbs for his 1st title opportunity.
I hope they have a good sized ref for this bout. :OhYes:

I think it would be funny if they got a little midget referee!

Top 5 in the history of the sport?
I mean, can we name many more bigger heavyweight fights? I can't think out more then a handfull actually. Can any of you guys? Will there come any bigger heavyweight fight any time soon?
Ali vs Frazier 1
Ali vs Frazier 2
Ali vs Frazier 3
Ali vs Foreman
Ali vs Spinks

God that was easy
Joe Frazier? A guy who's smaller then... Well me for example, and lost all the fights he has ever fought where I actually know the name of his opponent from at all? Spinks? You mean Leon Spinks with his 17 losses? Really?
Like any of these guys would even have a 1% chance at the moments of their fights against a 20 year old Miller.
I've heard of Jarrell Miller; he's that guy who advertises a French tyre brand beginning with 'M', isn't he?
That's right. And his favourite burger joint has a Miller-chin star. ;-)

Less than 6000 tickets have been sold.
And that's mainly to resellers.

It's a hugely important fight for both Joshua, DAZN and in some ways the future of the sport in America. AJ can't afford to think too far ahead but it will probably be the biggest US heavyweight matchup since the Tyson era.

Anthony Joshua is still somewhat behind the likes of Dempsey, Ali, and Iron Mike himself, but as the various numbers suggest, not too far behind.

Joshua is less known in America than Byrd or Ruiz.

Wilder vs Ortiz was undoubtedly more anticipated than this fight in the US.

Both fighters are basically unknowns in the American sports scene.

I don't see Joshua having such electric charisma on a personal level that he's going to captivate a US public that pretty much ignores boxing.

But, in my language "nada" = "the hope", and relatively frequent female personal name..............

With some huge fights coming over the period of some 6 weeks (all of them in the US) we'll soon find out where power balance in world boxing is.

April 20: Madison Square Garden, New York - Amir Khan v Terence Crawford (WBO world welterweight title)

May 4: T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas - Saul Alvarez v Daniel Jacobs (WBC, WBA Super, IBF world middleweight titles)

May 18: Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York - Deontay Wilder v Dominic Breazeale (WBC world heavyweight title

May 25: MGM National Harbor, Maryland - Oleksandr Usyk v Carlos Takam (heavyweight)

June 1: Madison Square Garden, New York - Anthony Joshua v Jarrell Miller (WBA Super, WBO, IBF world heavyweight titles).

Great to see the legendary Madison Square Garden regularly featuring such big fights once more.
