Why all the hate for Yarde on here? Yes Tunde is a bit of a tool but Yarde himself seems ok to me and is a pretty talented fighter. Which almost certainly won't be enough to beat Bert.

Nah, the 02 will be sold out for this without a doubt. Even Casuals in my friends group have already been asking me about Yarde fighting some “Russian machine” as one of them called him. I think I might fancy going myself.

I don’t remember anyone saying Arthur should challenge for a world title. I personally never particularly rated and outside of Yarde he hasn’t really beat anyone of note.

Why do you think Yarde is the most deserving of a title shot? Do you think his wins are better than those of Buatsi?
Undoubtedly Yarde's best win is Arthur so while Anthony doesnt have the deepest resume, on the basis that Richards and Arthur are pretty evenly matched i think the way Yarde despatched Arthur is a better win than Buatsi's narrow win over Richards.
Richards gave Bivol a decent test and beat an unbeaten Pitters for the British on an away show.

I’d say that puts him ahead of Arthur.

Buatsi beat Richards and had a good win against an in form Bolotniks. I’d put both these wins ahead of anything Yarde has done. I also thought Buatsi’s win against Calic was a pretty good one too after seeing how competent he was.
i think if Arthur and Richards fought tomorrow the odds would be very close as would the fight. Bolotniks was very tough but limited and Calic was the opposite in some ways - i think both Yarde and Arthur beat both of those handily.

In a super 6 style tournament to find the best LHW in Britain i think it would be hard to pick a winner. It's a pipe dream but it would be some tournament

You got 20k people in the friends group?

We’ll have to see closer to the time. It will need a bit of hype too.

I don’t hate him. I actually quite like him. I just think it’s crazy he’s been mandatory twice given who he’s beat.

ya very little of this supposed hate is actual hate, saying he's not deserving, hasnt had the right fights to prepare him, that tunde's a wanker, etc isnt hating. saying he's awful, that he's butt ugly, that he's dumb as a doornail and cant speak properly, etc.....now that would be some hating!

Hate is probably overdoing it. But there is an underlying anti-Yarde sentiment on the board whereas I quite like him. Would love him to topple Bert however unlikely that is.

Anthony Yarde Trainer on Seeing Beterbiev In Person: 'I Thought He Would Be Faster'

“Seeing him live, I’ll be honest with you, I thought he would be faster,” Yarde told BS.com. “The shots to me were slower and clubbing. Obviously, there’s power behind them. He’s knocked out everybody.”

“I always look at my charge, my fighter, and Anthony – Joe Smith doesn’t possess anything like Anthony Yarde," Ajayi said. "You have Joe Smith, Anthony, they are two different fighters. Two different skillsets. And Beterbiev, big puncher, obviously hits very hard, but we’ll see how he responds to Anthony.”

“I think it’s what most people expected,” Ajayi said of the fight. “I thought people thought it would go a bit longer than that, the second round of the fight. I think Joe, listen, I've already said. You’ve got to respect the guy. He went all out, he went all out on his shield. Good luck to him in the future.”

Beterbiev wants the unification. Bivol wants the same. Yet Arum makes a deal to fight Yarde.

I can understand taking the Yarde fight if the Bivol one can’t be made but it doesn’t like that Bob’s even trying to make it.

Promoters should work for the boxers - not the other way around.

BETERBIEV VS YARDE LONDON-BOUND

By Frank W

COME OCTOBER OF this year, we can look forward to welcoming one of the most formidable fighters on the planet to London when Artur Beterbiev rocks up to take on our own Anthony Yarde in defence of his three world title belts.

We had to think ahead with our strategy for putting this fight in place, with agreement having been reached before Beterbiev even laid a glove on Joe Smith jr in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Anthony holds the No.1 spot with the WBO and would be called as mandatory in any case so, along with Bob Arum of Top Rank, we put our plans into action and have booked the 02 Arena for what will be a mighty collision between two huge punching light heavies.

It will be a big bang-up, that is for sure.

Beterbiev, who has not been the most active over recent years, certainly looked light on his feet and quick on the draw against Smith jr, who was overwhelmed by the power and accuracy of the Canada-based 37-year-old.

Watching the fight reminded me of what a great pity it was that Callum Johnson was unable to participate in a challenge to Smith jr in January. Covid struck Callum at just the wrong time and he missed out on a golden opportunity.

It could have all played out very differently. I believe Callum would have beaten Smith jr and then it could have been him having a rematch against Beterbiev or jumping straight into a domestic with Anthony.

Now we are doing it the other way around and counting on Anthony to seize the belts and then bring Callum deservedly back into the mix.

Some people might think I am losing my marbles, but I believe Anthony can do a job on Beterbiev. I really do. Yes, he is a big puncher, but then so is Anthony and Callum has shown before that Beterbiev can be rocked.

I wouldn’t be so blunt as to say Anthony just needs to stick it on him, but he will need to be at it right from the first bell and set the tempo for the fight. I honestly believe that if Anthony had applied himself in a more typical fashion against Sergey Kovalev he would have been a world champion already.

He will need to let Beterbiev know he is in a fight from the off and box smartly and aggressively. He will have a partisan crowd roaring him in London on and he will need to make his capital gain count.

I have long believed that Anthony is world champion material. Yes, he has got it wrong a couple of times and looked a shadow of his normal self, but he is a fearsome competitor and more than a match for anyone in the division.

I won’t go over old ground, but Anthony endured a really difficult period during the pandemic that would’ve taken a toll on anyone. Now he is in a really good place and he and his team have learned lessons from their previous experiences that will serve them well this time around.

I have to give Anthony credit, he is a loyal soul and has stuck by the people who got him started in the pro game. Many fighters would have listened to the calls to ring the changes after a couple of setbacks, but his team pulled together and are strengthened by the wise counsel of James Cook, who provides valuable guidance to both Anthony and his trainer Tunde Ajayi.

Ultimate success will be all the more rewarding in the long run because all the team stuck together through thick and thin.

I very much hope this success comes on an October night on the Greenwich Peninsula.

I've no hate for Yarde. Quite like him in fact. But there's levels to this game and he will do well to make it past three rounds.

His "power" might be enough to splatter Bogdan Bogdanovic in the CopperBox, but Beterbiev will barely flinch while he's pounding him.

Beterbiev has been hurt and down before. He will also nearly be 38 years old by fight night and he is not the Terminator. If Yarde hits him with a good one to head or body he will hurt him, there is little doubt about that if people are being realistic.

Beterbiev doesn’t normally blast people out in under 3 rounds either, Smith was literally running head first like a billy goat into his punches with zero defence.

Having said all that, it is a massive mountain that awaits Yarde, and I think Beterbiev will win an explosive fight from around 7round onwards.

Where have you seen that?

So potentially no fight for Yarde this year…
