PROBLEM WITH WBA BELTS

All the WBA belts that predate the 2001 super belt nonsense have now been nominated 'ordinary world title'.

This seems a little derogatory and innaccurate for those who picked up WBA belts in those long forgotten days PJR (Pre John Ruiz) days when they were respectable belts to win.

There should be a category which differentiates between the WBA's titles before the super champion/regular champion nonsense began. This way legitimate titles and legitimate champions will not be demeaned with the "ordinary" tag. The WBA may have created the problem but BoxRec does not have to make it worse.

I agree, they created this joke, they are the ones that diluted the title, they are the ones that have disrespected the previous holders by doing this.

Gents, i think many of you are misunderstanding me, so sorry for not being clear.

We ALL agree the current multitude of WBA belts is disgarceful and anyone who fights for one deserves the 'ordinary' tag.

HOWEVER, if I say look at Greg Pages record, it says in 1984 he won the WBA 'ordinary' title.

If we look at any WBA title fight that predates the 2001 super belt rule on the Boxrec archives, they have ALL been labelled 'ordinary belts'.

This is disrespectful for all the fighters of the 70s, 80s, 90s that boxed for or won WBA belts as a technical glitch in Boxrecs system is labelling them all ordinary.... Yes? No?
