Fred Fulton-Jack London
Fred Fulton-Jack London
Can anyone confirm the validity of Fred Fulton's loss to Jack London on April 27, 1917? I have always found this result highly suspect for a number of reasons. 1. London was not only a pretty terrible fighter but he had only recently just turned pro. 2. Fulton was considered right at the top of Willards best challengers and a loss like this would have made fairly big news which brings me to my next point: 3. I cant find newspaper result for this fight anywhere. Ive checked both the New York Times and New York Tribune and not only do neither mention the result they dont even the bout having ever been scheduled. Admittedly neither was a great boxing newspaper but the Trib at least published regular schedules of area bouts. In addition to this I can find no mention of the bout in any AP reports anywhere. If anyone has access to New York paper records Id love to hear your thoughts.
