Hatton Promotions signs Sky deal.

Post by Andy »

According to Manchester Evening News, Hatton Promotions have inked an 8 fight Sky deal with the first show probably happening in July.
Thoughts anyone.

My thoughts are that they must have signed it before the manny fight, when Hatton had a lot of leverage, because he doesn't have a stable worthy of an 8 fight deal does he?

Joe Murray and Matthew Hatton - that's all I know. Perhaps this is a hint to further Ricky Hatton fights too.

This would have to be a Friday Fight Night job. No way anything like this would be going on PPV. Anyway I suppose with Joe Murray, Matthew Hatton and a few others (including a couple of new faces) I suppose this is no worse than the usual Sports Network/Matchroom stuff we get on a Friday night.

Any chance John Murray will move over? It's got to be frustrating with Hennessy.

defo needs to sign a good few fighters

i think everyone is expecting John Murray to sign, but he still needs at least 4 headliners to fill 8 cards, plus some good undercard fighters

Mat Hatton & Joe Murray being his best signings arnt worthy of headlining any TV bill

Hatton's lawyer Gareth Williams said they are interested in talking to ANY out of contract boxers so I'm sure within time they will have a good stable.

good luck to him,i hope he will be as honest & supportive as he say's he will,as there will be alot of young talented fans that will join his ranks.
i read on his appointment of jane couch b'coz she ran her own shows & can help hatton out,i was concerned about her saying that fighters will get what she was paying them b'coz she wont have ricky ripped off.& she said she used to cut even, but ricky has tv!!

Hopefully he will not, and he has said that there has been a heart-to-heart between him and Mick, who can do right by John. Murray-Thaxton will make it all worthwhile.
Terry,

I concede you know a hell of a lot more than me on this one - but my best mate Joe Gallagher :TU: - I am told does not have a top relationship with Hennessy and its from that aspect I am willing to bet Murray moves on.

In addition the Thaxton fight was attractive a few months ago when Thaxton held the European title but is clearly not as much now - don't get me wrong its the obvious and logical fight to have - I know Jono will disagree with me as I see Murray walking right through him and then that really will be the announcement of Murray onto the European stage at least - Hennessy then has to deliver and deliver quickly to an impatient fighter - Hennessy will probably ensure Murray sees out his contract but beyond that I will be stunned if he signs another!!

I am assuming its only a matter of time before John Murray crosses over.

Slightly O/T, I understand that Hatton and Graham no longer speak (excellent piece on BBN by the way Terry) but with Kayes advising the Murray's do Ricky and Kerry still stay in touch?

murray is a big hatton fan,but ricky has people that do it for him these are buisness people that keep themselfs in work by obviously doing buisness, hatton as sworn he'll do right by his fighters, but we will see.
as for henessy sports they havent really deliverd for there top fighters tv,fights, etc & it;s not a long career & as nice as people are it dont put food on your table,i mean jim evans probably the nicest & most genuine promoters out there, but people have mortgages to pay.

Is this why the Hatton (Matthew) vs Bami fight has not being shown on Channel M despite it being advertised (just showing repeats of amateur stuff).

Not in the mainstream it weren't. Mr Williams admitted it to him on his show.

Hardly a secret though. Wasn't like they'd be stuck on Channel M.

It will be the other way around, mate. Thaxton is made for Murray. Comes forward, likes a fight, doesn't have great speed and tires after six or seven rounds. Plus, with the rivaly, I would guess we would see the same Murray that turned up to fight Meager.

Murray TKO7.
