Don't agree with that. I'm not saying he won't win, but Pacquiao has a decent chance of beating him. I think what everyone can agree on is the fact that the fight definitely needs to happen.

It's all down to Floyd whether it does or not. We all know Pacquiao is ready to dance with anyone, but the same can't always be said about Floyd.

Yeah I think so. And I think Pacman will actually beat Cotto too. That Cotto fight is a month earlier than Floyds fight so after Cotto wins (which I think he will do), they have a month to negotiate a fight and agree to a deal, before Floyd has even fought. I think we will see a deal being struck and the fight taking place in early/late October. Floyd will have to take another fight to keep himself busy in the meantime. I can see him taking on Mosley and then setting up the big super fight with Pacman around this time next year. It will be an absolute bank job on Floyd when they fight, get everything you have on Floyd... the odds will be nice.

I don't think Pac will beat Cotto. Miguel is just too big and hits too hard. He is really going to hurt Pac when he lands and will slow him down. Cotto KO.

Cotto will have a difficult time finding Pacman. The fight will be at a catchweight of around 143/144, which means Cotto is going to be drained and more importantly, his CHIN will be affected. Pacman will be miles faster (faster than Judah even) and his footwork will give Cotto nightmares. Cotto is just too methodical to beat Pacman in my opinion. Pacman will be the puncher in the fight too, make no mistake. When he hits Cotto flush, Cotto will be in trouble. Pacman will be popping him from distance and will be nowhere to be seen for the counters. To beat Pacman, I think you need a good lead straight right hand (which Floyd has in abundance and so has Marquez). Cotto is actually left handed and doesn't have that punch in his arsenal, like DLH.

People need to get off the Pacman bandwagon and realize in all honesty he hasn't really beat an elite fighter over 130lbs which Cotto & Mayweather both are, if he gets in with either of them over 140lbs he will soon be found out.

I'm telling you now Riddock.......Manny will make a mess of Cotto

Pacquaio is a sharp shooter, can pick people off with those fast hands, range of shots and accuracy. Also, there is no doubt that Pacquaio's power has increased as he has gone up the weights. I don't think for one minute that Pacquaio will do to Cotto what he did Hatton, because Hatton plyed into Pacaquaio's hands with the tactics he adopted, but Pacquaio will stop Cotto late on in the fight, around the 9th round.

I think that Cotto is made for Pacquaio :box:

Who has Cotto beaten that could genuinely be described as a true "elite" fighter, apart from Mosley ?

Judah, Margarito, Quintana, Malignaggi, DeCorley, Torres, all very good fighters, but not what i would call "true elite" fighters, such as a Mayweather Jr or Whittacker or De La Hoya in their primes. Pacquaio is proving that size, for him, is irrelevant up to 147lbs and so his victories over prime versions of Barrera, Morales and Marquez, all hold water. They can't just be dismissed because he is now fighting at 147lbs.

Also, i don't think that Cotto is the same fighter after that deafeat by Margarito....

Size is not the issue here, if anything it's the style of the opponent, and in this case Cotto is well suited for Pacquaio's style. It's the speed and accuracy of Pacquaio's punch, combined with the range and angles of his shots that generates the power and this is something that Cotto will stuggle with a lot. Cotto is more of an aggressive fighter who comes forward, does'nt have much of a defence when under attack and is not that great working off the back foot. Cotto, wlll ultimately get picked off and countered by Pacquaio, untill he gets stopped late in the fight, around the 9th round. Ithink it would be wrong to dismiss Pacquaio so easily and no give due recognition and respect for his recent victories

I would disagree with that, he beat DLH who was terribly weight drained and well past his prime and then you have Hatton who's punch resistance had gone, previous to that he failed to stop Barrera and also in many peoples eyes lost against Marquez, both at 130.

For me he is still an unknown quantity above 130lbs and for this reason I would have to side with Cotto & Mayweather to beat him.

Those are decent odds as I would've expected to see at least 1/2 for a Mayweather win. Although, I think Pacman's got a very good chance. I'm guessing he's going to land on Mayweather, something which a lot of people don't do. I wouldn't rule out a Pacquaio KO if this fight happens, which it should if Mayweather comes through against Marquez.

The only reason I am not too cynical against the Mayweather/Marquez fight is that it should be a warm-up for Pacquiao. If Mayweather beats Marquez and then doesn't fight Pacquiao, I will be so pissed at Floyd jr. It would be a travesty to the whole world of boxing.

And Hatton's punch resistance may have gone down a little, but for Pacman to take him out so early with single shots was scary. Pacquaio carries his power with him, and he would do with Mayweather. Providing he can land, which I think he would, this fight isn't a forgone conclusion.

C'mon, Manny!

You can say that Hatton's punch resistance had gone, in light of what happened against Pacquaio, but nobody was saying that before the fight or indeed the fight against Malignaggi. I would say that Hatton has obviously had some tough fights and getting KO'd by Mayweather will have had an effect, but i feel that Hatton was punch resistant, he just got caught very early on, due to his silly tactics and then got caught with one of those punches that you see happen every ten years or so. De La Hoya, i would agree with, he was totally shot and weight drained, but Pacquaio took apart Diaz and that was at 140lbs and whilst Diaz is no Mayweather, it think it gives a reasonable assertion that Pacquaio can cope with any fighter, size wise, up to 147lbs.

After the Lazcano fight I said the next decent puncher Hatton faces will knock him out.

What are you basing that on? one lop sided fight with Jennings?

Im a huge manny fan but i honestly think that Cotto would do a number on him.
