Anyone know anything much about these two heavyweights from the 60's? I was actually researching Des Cox's record in Boxing News papers and ran across where his listed fight with Paul Cassidy has gotten mixed up with a fight Cassidy actually had with Phil Cox. At least according to some Boxing News articles. I'm just looking more though I guess information about the fighters themselves an not just the fight records. I found a picture in the New's of Des Cox playing a Saxaphone in a talent contest band, which I found interesting.

Just realized maybe I should have posted this in the Boxers of the Past. Sorry for that mistake.

All I know is that Des cracked the British top 10 heavyweight rankings in 1968.
Re: 60's UK Heavyweights Des Cox and Phil Cox
The Boxing News in 1967 and 68 talked this guy up as one of the up and coming HW's in the UK at the time. They're writeups on his fights were fairly good in length and detail compared to a lot of the coverage. They're HW rankings in June 1968, I beleive had him at #12. He had the fight with Tighe in September of that year. Later on late in 1968 I think it was there was an article about him due to fight Roy Enifer for the Southern Area HW title, but when that fight happened Enifer fought someone else. Could not find any explanation to why Cox did not fight Enifer. I scanned through the remaining issues of 1968 and a handful of early 1969 but have found no further mention of Des Cox.bennie wrote:All I know is that Des cracked the British top 10 heavyweight rankings in 1968.
