John Murrays next 3 fights

Post by alexpaterson »

Say your Murrays promoter which fighters would you get him in the ring with?

Personally Thaxton(if he wins), Meezache(if he wins) Katsidis(tough fight for him against a decent ranked opponant)

Thaxton next for vacant British title. Then if Froch gets a fight against Pavlik, i'd have Murray v David Diaz on the undercard. And Katsidis as the 3rd fight in an eliminator

thaxton - get back british title, and beat a euro level guy. hennessy has option of mezaache? will EBU insist on kudriavtsev getting his shot??

mezaache - for the european title, no other reason. probably a good workout, as mezaache was tough and lively. murray could grind out a good win

romanov - if he wins IBF title, then this is the bridge from europe to world IMO.romanov is one of those dangerous fights that you wouldn't want for anything less than a world title at the end of it.

If I was his promoter?......get him in the ring with Willie Limond...take that precious WBU belt home.......defend against selected no-marks in front of favourable Manchester audiences.......take my cut, quit working, buy a boat. Happy days :D .

can't see Arthur taking a fight at British title level again, perhaps if it was considered an eliminator for something more substantial, which in this day and age is always a possibility.

Murray will beat the lot - what interests me more is if he stays with Meaty Mick when his contract is up - or goes with Hatton Promotions where his brother is.

arthur would get pulverised. can't see arthur taking this fight for anything less than a european, maybe even world, title. hope i'm wrong though.

not true that the board are going to push limond v thaxton for EBU is it?

I can see him going with Hatton. Their link with GBP will give him the opportunity to box on American undercards some more and GBP have a good roster of Lightweights for Murray to be matched against.

Good shout that mate. Perhaps fit in one more british title defence before Katsidis so the lonsdale belt is his for good though. Also, I like the idea if Katsidis as his style would suit Murray as opposed to someone like Casamayor. Of course still a hugely dangerous fight to take.

It will be a tough fight for Murray to get past Thaxton. I think he will win though, because Thaxton is slightly over the hill. Murray could possily get to Euro level, but i think it's 50 - 50 as to whether he could beat someone like Romanov. I personally think that Murray will fall short at world level, if he ever get's the chance and perhaps his best opportunity would be against another banger in the shape of Michael Katisdis, but he certainly needs to stay away from the fast hand merchants, ie, Khan etc.

God, could you imagine Murray versus Katsidis? I would look forward to that more than Cotto versus Margarito (unloaded gloves) part II.

i think: Murray would beat the snot out of Arthur. I'd love to see that.

Mezaache- could give Murray some problems if he chose to box and not get engaged at all.

Romanov- he'd be there to hit, he almost certainly hits harder than Murray i think but i think Murray would let his hands go more, as long as Murray's chin held up to Romanov's right hand i think he could win this one too

ditto david diaz although i'm not sure how Murray does vs southpaws

Katsidis i would have to bet has too much for Murray right now, maybe in a couple more fights..

Interesting what you say about Mezaache. To me, the French dude wanted to trade with Thaxton, it was just that he beat him to the punch. Murray, I think would be faster than Jonno and get to him first - he certainly could walk through Mezaache's punches and land his own. Also, we have seen what happens to Mezaache when he's caught clean. I think Murray would grind him down after about six rounds. If I was Hennessy, I would forget Thaxton for now and get Murray a fight, even if it's in France. Then Thaxton as a first defence.

Limond is a good call and would also be he fight he now needs for the Lonsdale Belt, presuming he gets to fight for it v Thaxton and they wouldn't bother with the WBU

does murray still want to have a lonsdale belt for keeps? - if so he'd be falling behind a bit now, as he still needs 2 wins and the Board might not let him fight for the vacant title.

also, if mick has a piece of mezaache's next fight - is it specifically a thaxton rematch, or is it a 1 fight option v any hennessy fighter?

time to move in a different direction? possibly intercontinental belts to get him ranked for a world title? what are the odds on murray-thaxton ever happening

Thaxton is the next fight, all but guaranteed. Then he takes on Mezaache for the European belt and then defends it against Alex Arthur :D

reckon "Amazing" Alex aka Ken Buchanan II would be having unpleasant Michael Gomez flashbacks.

Would love to see Murray get the EBU belt and land a fight such as this, though.

Might it be good if they forget about British title, snub Thaxton, use poss Mezaache option to move Murray up the ladder?

Hennessy's link to GBP has never really come to much - unless of course its decided Froch will fight Hopkins.

Do not take things for granted Murray will stay with Hennessy.

but what is hatton now? he's an unproven promoter, a former marquee star who has again been obliterated off the big stage.

he's surely been ruined. can anyone forget him being stretched out on the canvas, alarmingly, v pac?

if he isn't proven as promoter, doesn't have loads of good fighters in hs stable, and can't use his profile (tarnished), then is ricky hatton a good promoter to go to?

He's not yet proven as a promoter, but hasn't he got the all-important TV dates (Sky) already secured?

if hatton had beaten manny pac, he'd have been in a great position to dictate. a superstar with more SBO PPV as leverage.

if he's got his TV contract though, cool. who has he got apart from big talent joe murray and decent matthew hatton?
