Amir Khan Do you like or not?

Lots is made of Amir Khan. I just want to gauge if the general feeling is that the British Boxing public like him or not.

I like him, seems like a nice enough lad to me.

Yeah, I like him, but I don't like the £15 per fight, or the fact that he's put in with non-punchers, smaller, older, slower guys. I also hate the fact that the Sky team are stupidly biased towards him.

I don't dislike him (though I loathe the media's (Sky's) treatment of him), but I don't consider him any more of a credible challenger to Kotelnik than Jennings was vs Cotto. He has never fought a top 15 LW, and never fought a LWW. I expect him to get KOd within 5/6 rounds and am hoping to take advantage of the ridiculous odds that are on offer.

I like him

He's a good kid with loads of potential...don't like certain things he comes out with, claiming his win over Barrara as though it was more down to him than the horrible Cut didn't make him likable at all to me

Sure he has Zero Personality on camera but so do Ricky Hatton, Joe Calzaghe, Carl Froch, John Murray, Audley Harrison and countless current and recent British Boxers unlike the likes of Bruno, Hamed, Benn and Eubanks.

Whether people want to talk about it or not, a major part of the Hate towards him is his Ethnicity and Religion...I'm not saying that's the reason for him being Disliked on Boxrec but for some people it will be.

I watched the Prescott fight on JUST IN....and there were 50,000 people there and all i can say is that i've probably never seen so much RACISM aimed at one Person, it was Disgusting and this was BEFORE he lost....afterwards it became even more Revolting before i left these Animals to it.

It would be Great for BRITISH BOXING if he wins tonite, i just hope people dont start saying Kotelnik wasn't all that good which we know wouldn't be True.

I've warmed to Amir Khan really, originally I wasn't a fan, the reasons for this though were all the hype, him ducking and bypassing genuine british contenders, his promoter all the usual stuff. As a person though he seems like a decent enough lad, he's done some decent charity work etc and also I really enjoy watching his fights, I like his boxing style and I also think over the last year or so he's become more humble, and has grown up a bit, he's also took a few more risks boxing wise (dont get me wrong he's still carefully looked after) , so I'd say now I like him.

Still would've liked to see him fighting Murray though.

I can't see why personalities need to come into sporting events -- even with Vic Darchinyan, who I can't stand, the reason I don't like him is 'cos he's a midget ungainly lunging awkward southpaw bullying git. I care not a jot if he comes into an interview & says "I'm the best thing since King Kong & I've got a twelve-foot rod" -- it wouldn't change my opinion of him, 'cos his style is an abortion (for me) to watch.*

Whether Amir Khan is nice to his mum, steals Mojos from the local Smile Store, runs people down in overpowered sports saloons is of supreme indifference to me. & as for what he says in interviews, Chrissakes do people not realise that there are these things called PR people? Or even that an entire industry exists to manipulate your opinions? Ah well.

I'm not in favour of throwing the baby out with the ideological bathwater. It seems ridiculous to me all this "Eee, Amir is a bloody disgrace, why hasn't he fought Peter Buckley four hundred times" shite is not only boring, it's bonkers too.

Expecting anyone in the public eye to be either a paragon of virtue or a role model (HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHA) is something that makes me worry for the sanity of the human race.

Hes OK i think he is over-rated by SKY and some of the stuff he comes out with annoys me like he would never fight his "Friend" Hatton then when Hatton looks awful against Pac he would love to fight him

I'd have to agree, i also hate the way Sky build him up. I didn't pay the PPV i have no issue when it's a Superfight but no way for a fight that should be on ordinary Sky.

I was just wondering what the general feeling was as when he fought Barrera he was booed. I guess this is more do do with how much people like Barrera than how people dislike Khan.

I personally think he's alright from what he says but some of the stories that go wih him i dislike. I appreciate he's talented but it tends to grate on me when they proclaim him a superstar already.

i like him much better now that he has put in a performance of both style and substance, vs a good world class fighter, over 12 rounds. when you look at the profile he has, once he's done something big, it is making a big impact, he's getting some great press & has big potential. only a week or 2 ago ppl were saying "boxing is irrelevent". well it clearly isn't.

before that he got the same rave reviews for beating, say, a semi retired fighter from doncaster. the media are on his side, he's making loads of money, he's been getting PPV money for lesser fights (fagan) so i've waited a while to be convinced.

frank w wil no doubt want to keep him champion for a long time. i wonder if this WBA problem is being cleared up. no doubt they will be happy to collect sanctioning fees on khan fights.

much prefer watching carl roch just get stuck in vs tough opponents - with no pre fight bullshit and lies - but that's just me. i think if froch does well in this super 6 tournament, he could become pretty big in sports.

You can dislike him all you want, who is saying your racist?.... but there are those who will never like him due to his enthnicity and religion so it'd be silly not to mention it in relation to this particular thread.

I'm still not quite sure why he's disliked though....People accuse him of being Arrogant, don't see what evidence there is to back that up!

I heard him on the Radio before being interviewed and he came across as being humble and well balanced in his answer's, he was asked who his Dream Fight would be against and he said 'Floyd Mayweather jr' but he wouldn't be ready for that Fight for another 12 to 18 months....I'm sure people will say he's arrogant for even mentioning himself with Mayweather so he can't really win in some peoples eyes.

You can accuse him of being a Crap Driver and having a Dodgy chin though....that'd be fair!

I like the guy & I've always been a fan of his.

He lives in my locality (sort of) & he's a really nice & approachable guy if you ever meet him one to one.

I'm not sure how far he's going to go in his career, but one thing cannot be denied is that he has decent skills & he wants to be the best.

He doesn't shout his mouth off & then do absolutely zip all (are you watching Mr Harrison?).

I wish Khan all the best & hope he can go on to achieve the things that he wants, as he has always gone about things in the right way so far.
