Still going to get let down by his chin, sorry but he will.

Impressed though, chin held better than I thought it would, good fitness, good balance, good pace, good activity level.

BUT the chin will let him down again

He beat someone who I would say is World class, so I'm calling Khan World class. I do think the next puncher Khan faces will knock him out, though. Someone like, say, Maidana.

Excellent performance, can't deny that this fight answered a lot of questions, Khan has improved immensely.
Beating a tough and respected champ like Kotelnik in such a fashion is the way to earn respect, not the target practice against Fagan or the circus against Barrera.
I just hope that now he'll keep it up, take genuine competitive fights and showcase what he can do.
If he vacates the title and moves down to face Erik Morales, well that would put a huge stain on tonights excellent work in my opinion.

Fair play to Khan......

Styles make fights and Kotelnik didn't have the tools to hurt Khan. Kotelnik is a good and durable fighter, but he isn't anywhere near an elite fighter and does'nt have any punch power. Any fighter with big punching power or any of the elite fighter's at lightweight or light-welter would beat Khan. The other attribute that is missing from Khan's repetoire is punching power and you need that at the very highest level. Credit to Khan for the victory, it did'nt suprises me one bit, because i knew that Khan's hand speed and movement would create problems for Kotelnik and that's what happenned. Khan has world class speed and movement and a decent range of shots, but he lacks an overall style and so falls some way short of being termed world class. As i said earlier, any good fighter with some movement, speed and punching power will beat Khan and any of the elites at lightweight and light-welter will beat him. As for the likes of Mayweather, Guzman, Marquez, Pacquaio etc, forget it, he will never be in that class.

No but you can put muscles on his legs so he absorbs a punch better

Well Done Mr.khan. Nice to see a young man achieve his dream of a world title after a devastating loss not so long ago. Nice to have another British Champ too. I would put him on the bottom-most rung of world class level. There are still things there he needs to improve if he wants to move up a little in class. I thought he would have a bit more power actually because he looks like he has but Kotelnik pretty much took everything.. Fought a smart fight and against his nature from what we have seen of him prior to this fight. If nothing else the boy got heart & dedication so respect for that.

difficult to judge his power against a cagey fighter like kotelnik.

never really rated his power though.

he won't take out many at top 10 level.

bring on maidana. :TU:

I always thought he had world class ability and if well matched he would win a major belt. The lightweight division was too hot for him and being able to carry the speed up to light welter allowed him to bedazzle a really solid world champion in Kotelnik. The fact is though that if Maidana had got the nod over Kotelnik then Amir wouldn't be a world champion and instead would still be fighting against fringe world level fighters at lightweight. The way that Warren braced himself every time Kotelnik pitched his shoulder forward and went for the home run with that overhand right just confirms what we already know......Amir's chin is still and will always be his achilles heel.
Outside of matching him some very beatable challengers in voluntary defences I still can't see Khan getting past the many heavy handed contenders that await him. Not wanting to piss on his parade but the Prescott defeat was too hairy to be just a freak occurrence.

I don't think he's proved it yet. One more fight against a ranked contender who can PUNCH hard and i'll be convinced. even if he loses, i'll give him credit for it.

For me he's electric, he moves around the ring quickly to get away from the opponent & his speed is on the attack is astonishing - but you always get the feeling that he's wide open to a smasher to the chin that will have him in freefall.

He aint no battler though.

I feel genuine sports fans and followers of real boxing are in for a long.......long.........long expensive talent free ride :witzend:

Kotelnik is a good fighter, but he isn't world class and before anyone say's, no, i don't think being a world champion in this era means that you are automatically deemed to be a world class fighter.

Definatley showed he is world class for me tonight. He did a good job on a guy who has been operating at and around world level for a while now. Kotelnik isn't one of the better belt holders out there, but this was a legitimate fight. I didn't think Khan could put in the performance he needed for 12 rounds to get the win but he showed he is developing and moving in the right direction. I wouldn't be throwing him in with Hatton anytime soon though.

I thought Khan's speed would be too much tbh. Fair play to Khan, but there is a reason why Kotelnik was selected :D

Still wouldn't beat Romanov, for me though.
