Hall V Small

Post by whicker »

No thread for the Hall fight?

Well, Small played the clown, played the "man" , and seemed to simply take control in the 8th and stop Hall easily. So, if Small "really something" or is Hall perhaps not quite as good as we thought he might be?

Bit of both, in a funny way it reminded me of Hatton vs Mayweather obviously at a lesser level. Small frustrated Hall early on, got on Hall's nerves and then just picked him apart.

Hall looked absolutely one-dimensional tonight, can't see him ever getting any further than domestic level, Small could go into euro class and maybe fringe world level, he has some quality moves and a bit of a dig on him. I loved the ring entrance, i love stuff like that, playing the baddie, reminded me of Eubank in some ways and I think we need more of that stuff back in boxing.

Not sure, but in my eyes Hall hadn't done enough to really win more than 1 round, he simply got out-thought and out-fought in the end. Soooo one-dimensional he was like a bull to the matador tonight, stupid and thoughtless boxing, Small just had too many moves for him.

Did make me chuckle when Small went over to Hall's corner at the end to try and 'make up' sort of thing and Hall's trainer went 'fornicate off, go on fornicate right off' or something like that, haha.

Can't blame that kind of reaction, really.

Unfortunatley, getting bit to some who acts the twat, as Small does, must be humiliating.

Yeh definitely, totally justified response, afterwards Hall seemed ok with Small in the middle of the ring and I do see it as an act to hype the fight, theres nothing wrong with it in my book, everyone was looking forward to Hall vs Small cos of the extra needle in there from the press conference so it worked didnt it.

yeah made me laugh too! smalls game plan was spot on tho! hall remind's me of gavin rees with a dig (come forward fighter with little head movement) but small just picked him of as he came in and did the job!

Small's stance was different!

He certainly can be justified in moving up now.

I hadn't seen that much of Hall but he was disappointing. What a nightmare for him to lose like that after all the "banter" leading up to the fight.

I have to say about Small though, if he seemingly can't impose his style effectively on a fighter like Hall until the opponent tires, then how is he going to beat a decent boxer who can fight 12 solid rounds?

Most of what we saw in the first few rounds was awful, and it's not like Hall was being wild and unpredictable. Not good signs for Small IMO.

Smalls a disrespectful nob, plain and simple. Cant stand the fela. One of those fighters who I love to hate. To mention himself in the same sentance as Roy jones jnr, Mayweather, Ali!!!!! the guy needs a serious beating. Brian Hughes's reaction was exactly as mine would have been. Cant wait to see him get sparked

hall didnt really get into the fight after the 1st few rounds of hugging he just chased shadows for much of the night while small danced around like a bit of a tit, they seemed ok after the fight which is a good thing i suppose but it kicked right off after the fight and i was suprised how many people jupmed up when the fight was stopped

Moore would stop Small within three rounds. Rhodes would beat him easily he was poor I thought.

I really thought Hall would win. I lost £20 on this fight. Oh well. Congratulations Small, but you're still annoying.

Small won but i weren't impressed with him until he the exchange where he actually stopped Hall.

Small won the first in my eyes. The next few were close though, Small was dancing about keeping away from Hall but weren't throwing much apart from the odd jab, i gave Hall a few of these rounds on the basis that he was coming forward and landing the better shots.

Small upped the ante though and fair play to him, doesn't look like Hall can take a dig though.

small has very poor punching technique and just isn't that good. Most of the fighters who are brash and arrogant actually have a good grasp of the fundamentals of the game. Small doesn't and he won't go far. He's going to embarrass himself very soon.

good to see him make his mark.

brian hughes made me laugh at the end of the fight.

small goes over and hughes went "fornicate off"

Fair play to Anthony Small, he's not exactly my cup of tea but he has clearly backed up his pre-fight words.

Small deserves some respect now, I hope he gets it.

I think he would beat Rhodes as well, but that fight is unlikely to happen.

Good on ya mate, he's like marmite as he said, defo trying to be a new-Eubank type, get the crowd hating him it'll defo get him better paydays and make him a controversial character.

I love it, I find it entertaining and I like watching his unorthodox style, he game Hall the runaround last night and basically took the piss, not very sporting I know but if you can pull it off it certainly creates a bit of needle and interest in a fight! He's the sort of guy people will want to watch, to watch the time he gets sparked out, but people will stillw ant to watch him and that's the key I suppose.

As for Hall, agree with the guy who said he should drop a weight, maybe even 2, with his frame and shortness he won't ever figure seriously at middleweight imo. Should drop to welter or light-welter, fat little shit hahaha.

Going into round 8, Hall was 10/3 and Small was 1/5 to win.

I didn't know Small had pulled ahead like that- a hard one to score from the crowd.
