I mean, I know they "sanction" fights for their belts, but what do they do with the money that they demand in sanctioning fees? Is it reinvested? Is it used to boost Boxing in underdeveloped areas? Is it put into a fund to help down on their luck past boxers (a kind of boxers union, if you will)?
As I see it (admittedly, I might be missing something), the sanctioning of a fight by a alpha-body will only happen if Promoter A has paid more than Promoters B thru Z and as a reward for paying the money, the fight can be deemed a "World Title" fight?
Can anybody shed any light on other Sports where the the organising body takes payment for allowing the best in the world to call themselves Champions?
