Calzaghe one of the greatest LB 4 LB fighters ever !!!!!!

Post by FLINT ISLAND »

Page 3 of the SUN newspaper today

Calzaghe has split up with big lips - Jo Emma Larvin after 5 years together.

He is then described as one of the greatest pound for pound fighters......................EVER !!!!!!

The 46-0 record is really making him seem like the GREATEST - to casual boxing fans....................

Yea i was thinking that in the sun yesterday had the line up and the Dancer he is with would be very tempting.

this Strictly come dancing always seems to break up couples ( not saying thats exactly whats happened ) but all that close dancing with scantily clad birds cant help :DDD

Joe will defo be the man if he gives that Sleazy Brendan dude a punch in the mouth
that guy is a tosser of the highest order ( or am i just jealous of his success with the ladies )

SG1985, give me an example of that please.

I don't doubt it happened, and of course, boxers do contradict themselves, but Joe Calzaghe is different. In everything he says there's a contradiction, from his take on rematching fighters, fighting "past it" fighters, and being so fickle when it comes to SCD.

Like I have said, all fighters do it, but Joe does it on a different level - it's embarrassingly cringeworthy. Good point about Oscar, but if we listed out all their contradictions (with proof), then I bet Joe's far outweigh de la Hoya's.

carl froch was doing it in the same sentence when talking about jermaine taylor before the fight, boxers are not the brightest of people, I'm not saying they're all stupid but after seeing some of them on the weakest link you'd have to say having a job where you get punched in the head is probably not a good idea.
barry mcguigan is a good example and i could give examples of his contradictions when he commentates

Fair enough. He probably did contradict himself, but I don't know for sure. However, the point still remains about Calzaghe being the epitome of contradictions, especially here in the UK. His book was horrendous to read - it had more contradictions than anything.

he is but he switches biases all teh time

khan-kristjansenn fight on ITV

pre-fight Mcguigan "this is the sort of step up in competition khan needs if hes going to get to world level"

mid fight i think " this is bad khan need to step up and fight hard competition opponants like this, you learn nothing"

after that i dont take his post fight analysis of any opponant seriously if i havent heard of them

sg1985 wrote:mario veit? wasn't he joes mandatory the second time? he won two wbo interims just before he fought joe again and had a 15 winning streak after calzaghe till he fought him again.
He probably was, but it made no real difference as Fwank Warren controlled Calzaghe's WBO reign. If Joe squeezed past on a SD against Veit in Cardiff then I bet my arse that that rematch would never have happened.

he may have genuinely thought the guy was a test for khan.
he may have but you cant critsize the guy when he loses and not acknowledge he overestimates the guy or simly he was wrong

if he was a step up khan coped well and if he wasnt mcguigan was wrong dont play down the fighters

he was wrong he shouldnt back peddel and reverse his assesment of the fighter
